Not sure why you're being so adversarial. Yes,I sent it around to industry insiders, but I also said I had to real expectation of getting it seen or heard. I said the industry is very insular. And of course I realize that a franchise such as this is vastly different from other shows. Without an agent and contacts and experience, I wouldn't have a chance of pitching anything, much less a new a Trek show.

But getting that pitch meeting was never really my true goal, I realized how unrealistic that was. But why not TRY? Why not give it a shot and see what happens? I met some interesting people, learned some interesting inside info and got some valuable feedback.

Just because you think it can never happen doesn't mean you shouldn't try. If I did that, I would never be where I am today. You may not always succeed, but you fail at 100% of the things you don't even bother to try.

You can go on trying to argue with me about one small initial comment I made, reading way too much into it, and ignore everything else I've told you, I don't really care. This isn't a competition and I don't really need your negativity. If you had constructive criticism, or helpful suggestions, that would be fine. But you only seem intent on discouraging me, which is helpful to nobody.

What's disappointing is that nobody else is even nothing to comment on the concept itself, this has just become a semantic argument between yourself and I over the mechanics of a pitch. I suppose you've successfully hijacked this thread.

Still, I stand by my concept, my reasons for doing it and my willingness to put the idea and myself out there. You might think it's foolish and naive, that's fine, that's your opinion. But my approach is "may fortune favor the foolish".

Part of that may be attributable to the fact that, aside from the coincidental duplication of the project title, the concept and the Abramsverse movies really don't have that much to do with each other.

We do have other forums which are more oriented toward providing critical feedback - Fan Fiction would be one possibility, Fan Productions might be another, though most of what gets covered there has to do with content which is currently being produced or is being developed with production as a goal. There's also Fan Art.

Hmm, yeah, good point. I did post in the thread about "tell us your new series idea" and got some good feedback there. :)

Neat!

I wonder when they will try to buy the domain from you. :)

No they won't buy it, they will simply take it. They can do this because it has it has the trademarked name "Star Trek" in the title. I have seen them take StarTrekxxxx.com names before (for instance startrekmovie.com uses to be owned by a fan and they just took the name). This is why many sites just have 'trek' in it (like trekbbs, trekunited, trekcore, trekmove, trekweb etc..), to prevent CBS from taking the name.

BTW, if Beyond is to be the new title, can put a banner on your promoting Star Trek Renegades ;)

Nah, I think they'd buy it from him for a few thousand.

Nothing to be gained by strong-arming a fan and stealing his website from him without compensating him for it. Besides, it's good marketing and makes for a better story.

No they wont buy it, they will cite trademark infringement to the domain registrar and obtain the name. There is a chance they will leave it alone, but they have a history of securing domain names of there films. I have been in this game long time I know how these things play out.

Paramount has still not officially stated the name was Star Trek Beyond so we are not sure if that would even happen, but they will try to secure the domain name before they announce to the public to cover there bases.

That's too bad tho I like the name for the film. Might I suggest to the originalposter that if it looks like that is the movie title and they'll likely take the domain that you secure a variation on it like Stbeyond or Trekbeyond.

Oh, right... he's just some fan. Except for that part where he mentions writing the story for Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force? Yeah. I smell a rat. They may legitimately be considering his concept, but it isn't like they just let in some random fan to pitch - like they seem to be trying to sell it as, for some reason I really don't get.

Mgummelt, let me ask you a direct question, Has Paramount asked you the startrekbeyond.com domain name?

Well, Congratulations!!!

And we all wish you much luck! ;)

I somehow doubt that Star Trek:Beyond will be our next Star Trek series. But if you do your job well, it definetely improves our chances of getting a new Star Trek series at all. And who knows? Maybe they like some of your ideas and want to incorporate them into their new ventures!

Yeah, I don't expect them to just say "yes, let's do it". But if this effort in any way shows them how much people want a new Trek series and gets them working on one (any one, not just my own), I'll consider it a successful venture. Ultimately, I just want Trek back on TV like any other fan. :)

This is a FANTASTIC statement - a caution to anyone who discourages others and for us to maybe be more introspective about why we say what we do. It's a very Trekkish attitude to be optimistic and constructive, isn't it?

Good luck!

In other threads, I have been a bit adversarial, but the truth is that I've been let down every single time someone says "Paramount/CBS is going to listen to my pitch!"

I do wish you luck, though, and I rather enjoyed your ideas.

Are you allowed to talk how the pitch went? And when it will be?

And, MORE IMPORTANT: Do you have people with whom to train for your pitch? Maybe even somebody in the industry? Or maybe, even a non-trekkie whom you have to try to convince of your idea? :)

Again: Bravos! Whatever some people here in the forum complain about: None of them have a pitch on their own;)

EDIT: Naah... just read your statement on Trekmovie. Questions answered. Silly me... Good luck!

The hell you say, I have a great pitch for my potential series Star Trek: Phasers F*cking Everywhere. :p
