Because adding a pointless stereotype of a character in the last season of a show that a had a huge ongoing plot really made sense?
I mean, to take time away from the plot and devote it to exploring that boring character instead?
Yeah, I don't agree.
I didn't actively dislike her. I just think her addition was pointless and they should've just let the symbiont die with Jadzia to focus on other stuff in the last season.
Agreed orrrr just had her appear once so we knew the symbiont was still alive and then shipped her out to do her own thing. It felt very forced to me.
I wasn't a huge Kira fan for quite a while but warmed up a little to her by the end of the show. She still sometime irritates me in rewatches though.
Jax was a fun character for me... while sometimes her carefree attitude was a little too much, it did end up playing nicely with characters like Kira and Worf. In general though, I prefer her over Kira.
Though, I am in the minority with liking Ezri the most of these three. I just liked the story behind her being joined without wanting it and the issues she deals with over the one season. It just felt like a more relateable character for me. Wish we could have gotten a few more seasons with her.

Jadzia is ... The Total Package.

I don´t quite agree. Jadzia is alright. I prefer Ezri. But Dax is the "Total Package". And it is Dax, who lived all the lives.
Yes, quite right about Dax being the symbiont actually being the one that lived all those lives - that it wasn't Jadzia, herself. Perhaps, I should've rephrased, but I do understand that point. And I also agree, very strongly, with Ezri taking Jadzia's place. Yes, you could kill off a trill character, but why have it - in essense - be immortal, if not to allow for this kind of trading actors thing? The Trill set-up all but demands that Dax continue in some way. They did what they could to give Ezri her own identity and her own unique story and Rick Berman deserves an "A" for effort in that regard.
By the time I got around to watching the Time Tribble episode ... to see Terry Farrell in that miniskirt, with her hair up and those dots removed sealed the deal for me: without question, from then on, DS9 was ... Jadzia! And Jadzia was DS9. Hell, give her the whole show - I don't mind! You know, I STILL can't believe that they would not include Jadzia flashbacks in the final episode - just out of spitework, I'd imagine. I never really saw the appeal of Kira, to be honest - so, for me - this was no contest.

For clarity, it was the Farrell camp that refused permission for Jadzia Dax's image to be used.
I do, of course, understand the appeal. If I were to let my girlfriend drive the ship, I'd want her to be Dax (Jadzia or Ezri). That would put her above most women in the franchise.
Now I understand your point. The Tribble DS9 episode was one of the best (beside Far beyond the Stars, Badda Bing and The Magnificent Ferengi).
When they killed off a Litverse Trill character in the VOY relaunch I was saddened that they weren´t able to save at least the symbiont. But circumstances didn´t allow for that. And the symbiont would have been the same, the host might have been totally different (e.g. a female instead of a male ...)

I have to agree. MU Jadzia looked better than her counterpart, but lacked her personality (I´m not the one who claimed that).
Kira has more depth as you will see in the upcoming seasons. But the whole symbiont concept of the Trill is quite fascinating.
Lyta? Really? but half her lines were "Oh, Rom!"
