Favorite Ferengi Episodes

Hawkeye_90

Lieutenant

I realize I probably spelled the name wrong.

I think mine were the mag seven recast
the first time quark goes back to his planet.
The first episode where quark runs into the guy from the fcc.

You mean the Ferengi. :)

And it´s Brunt FCA.
The Magnificent Ferengi is also one of my favorite episodes. And Eliminator Leck my favorite Ferengi in it. Iggy Pop as Vorta is hilarious.

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

Magnificent Ferengi
Business As Usual
Who Mourns For Morn

Not the Moogie/Zek episodes.

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

Zek entering the Mirror Universe was great, though. He didn´t realize how dangerous Intendant Kira was....

It was late. I realized all of these things when I woke up this morning. :P

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

Little Green Men and House of Quark are two of my absolute favorite Ferengi episodes.

Wait..... Iggy Pop guest starred on DS9?

Little Green Men is great. And Dayton Ward´s novel "From History´s Shadow refers to this episode, among others.

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

Keevan in Magnificent Ferengi: "I hate Ferengi!!!!!" :)

Iggy Pop was Yelgrun in this episode.

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

In TNG, I hated the Ferenghi though to be fair, they were being fleshed out and explored in that show so mistakes were obviously going to be made. They're clearly wanted them to be serious villains but that was never going to work and looked ridiculous and they quickly realised that they were too laughable for that. So how about comedy?

Well I still disliked them as comedy characters too and one of the things that put me off DS9 was the fact that the show had a Ferenghi as a regular character

First time round, I still didn't care for the Ferenghi episodes but with each new viewing, I enjoyed Quark more and more and a few years later, I finally saw how good that character was and how well DS9 presented Ferenghi culture.

Shimerman takes most of the credit for changing my mind

Little Green Men is a favourite

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

Body Parts
Rules of Acquisition
Business as Usual

Two of those are Quark only shows, but they were good Quark only shows.

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

Anything with Zek or Brunt (FCA). My three favorites are Magnificent Ferengi, Ferengi Love Songs, and Emperor's New Cloak.

Incidentally, it occurs to me that we never actually saw Quark cancel the contract he made with Garak in Body Parts to have himself killed. Garak could take him out any time, any where. LOL.

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

Brunt was great, I loved his rivalry with Quark. What was the one where everyone was popping up in Moogie's closet? That episode cracked me up for some reason.

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

Hawkeye_90, let me know if you want the thread title fixed.

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

I feel that "Family Business" is unfairly maligned, probably because of the association with Moogie. However, there were two different actresses who played Moogie. Andrea Martin, who played only in this one episode, provided a delicious, but complex, performance. Cecily Adams wasn't up to the task, and the character took on more of an Edith Bunker vibe (without the charm).

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

The one set in Roswell, Little Green Men. I kind of remember them hiding behind or inside trash cans.

Re: Favorite farangi episodes

The Nagus.

Not because it's the best, but because it rehabilitated the Ferengi, took what was a joke, comedy villain race in TNG, utterly disposable, and actually started fleshing out their race, tried to envisage this mega capitalist society and how it would work. And it introduced the Rules of Acquisition.

I didn't like them either at first, but by the time I finished the series I loved quark.
