Do you prefer watching TV with the lights on or off??

When you watch your favorite movie or TV series, do you have the lights on or off?

I prefer watching movies with the lights on, but if the movie has a lot of dark scenes, I often turn the lights off so that I don't see the entire living room being reflected off the TV screen.

If you watch TV with during the day or with the lights on, do you ever get bothered by reflections?

My tv has this trademarked feature called Ambilight (tm)... lights the entire wall behind the set up in colours fitting what happens on screen...so fantastic!

I like some light---perhaps from a corner behind me or from the next room--but not from overhead in the same room. It makes for too much reflection on the screen.

It depends. If I'm watching the TV in the living room, the lights go off. There's too much light in the way in that room, from my lamp, and the street lights outside.

If I'm watching on my computer in another room, I'll keep a lamp on.

Of course the first way has sometimes resulted in my falling asleep 20 minutes before the end of the show and waking up 5 minutes into the next one, since the chair in the living room is very comfortable and the cats like to help me sit there. :vulcan:

I love watching our HDTVs in the dark...gives a movie like experience...

Dear Wife loves to watch TV with the lights on..but the Brazilian TV channel she likes lends itself to bright watching..

I prefer a semi-dark atmosphere with soft lights. If the TV itself is the only light source it's a bit too much for me.

Lights on. I can't stand how bright the screen is when the lights are off. It really bothers my eyes.

The less artificial light the better, although I do tend to watch a lot of television with the lights on. It's easier to relax and get into the shows I watch, though, with all the lights turned off at night or even in the middle of the day.

I prefer dim lighting for most things, though if I'm watching a particularly epic movie I will turn the lights off completely.

Lights on, though pointed away from the screen so there's no glare.

I like to multi-task, and if it's a long movie, being in the dark makes me sleepy.
