PICTURE POST II!

My little nephew is doing a correspondence project for his kindergarten class. He mailed me a paper doll called Flat Stanley who is going to live with me for a month and write letters. I'm supposed to include photos, and I may be having more fun with this than my five year old nephew. The pictures aren't great art, but they're damn cute so I thought I'd share. My first set is going to be about traveling on the subway:

Sweet (and awesomely talented) performer guy:

tsq, I think your nephew's idea is a brilliant one. And to take it a step farther, Flat Stanley could be mailed to different board members who could take pictures of his travels and post them. He could end up travelling around the world. Of course, that's if your nephew - and enough people got on the bandwagon.

^ The "Flat Stanley Project" has been something that's been going on for years, and it's something that many elementary school kids do. My older two kids have participated as a class project, and my youngest will as well.

Although the way my kids (and it seems TSQ's nephew) did it was to mail it to a friend or family member, not send it to another participating school as in the article.

I've participated in the Flat Stanley thing a few times. Once for my friend's nephew when I was living in Romania and once while living here for a little girl my cousin teaches in Nova Scotia who didn't have anyone to send her Flat Stanley to. I took a bunch of pictures around the city and sent him back to her with a souvenir "I ♥ NY" t-shirt.

^ Don't worry, it's an awesome pic. And the dark makes it look even better! :techman:

You could call it, Tora Ziyal Into Darkness :D

TSQ, I absolutely love your photo set! Such fun (with great settings and backdrops!). One of these days I'm going to have to walk the Williamsburg Bridge.

Great shot. Looks like you were in my neck of the woods.
Thanks. My travels have taken me up to the 80s on both the East and West sides. Really cool neighborhoods!

Took this yesterday:

ETA: Hmm, on the way from my computer to Photobucket to here, it got a bit darker. :(
This is a fabulous shot! Just love it, especially in B&W. Great composition and lighting, too. Nicely done!

That's a great photo, Ziyal! I love not only the pose of your cat but the composition of the shot! :)

That is indeed an excellent shot. The darkness actually works--it makes a nice contrast. And........KITTY!

So I was greeted by this, this morning. Lovely snow.

My drive to the tire place to take off my snow tires and to put the all seasons back on. Thinking I maybe doing the switch over a tad to early.

It's 90 degrees here and I have the AC going. If it snowed here, the entire state would grind to a halt.

That said, I wouldn't mind having a bit of snow in the winter. Might be a nice change.

Just two months ago my area was blanketed with repeated snow storms and it didn't seem like it was going to melt anytime soon. Now it's been as warm as the mid-to-upper 80s, people are frequently in shorts and spring is in full swing.

It's gorgeous.

I think nature itself would freak if it snowed here now. All the trees are already covered in new leaves, and everything is a vibrant green! The snow pics just look depressing to me.

Awesome! Looks to be a bowed front? Do you have plans you could post? I love housing architecture. My wife and I have been discussing building our next home. That would be 8 to 10 years from now. However that hasn't stopped me from designing it.
