So... it'll be about an aged, grumpy Jim Kirk training his teenaged successor in a cyberpunk future? ;)

Khan, don't post threads consisting only of title and link, with no explanation. If you can't take a minute or two to tell people what the thread and link are about and then offer some comment of your own about it, don't start the thread.

I've added a quotation of the first paragraph from the article to your post, for starters. Perhaps you can now go back and edit in your own thoughts concerning this news item?

I'm okay with the title, now hopefully Pegg & Co. can deliver an original story idea & a great movie.

"Beyond" in Trek movie tag lines:

-Beyond the darkness, beyond the human evolution is Khan
-Beyond time. Beyond the known universe. Beyond imagination. An adventure for a new generation.
-Beyond the darkness, lies greatness. (and they tried to say it wasn't going to be khan!)

The problem is, it's risky to give a movie a title that critics can easily twist into puns at the movie's expense. I can just imagine the negative review titles: "Star Trek Beyond Boring," "Star Trek Beyond Hope," "Star Trek Be-Yawned," etc.

Then again, I guess positive reviews could use it too: "Star Trek Beyond Expectations," "New Star Trek Light-Years 'Beyond' the Last," etc.

I like the title. Hopefully Pegg will be able to deliver a good story with some aliens or something to explore. I hope we don't get another big black more powerful ship showdown. I want to see something different.

Honestly, I find the title uninspired. But then, I seem to be the only person who feels the same way about The Force Awakens.

However, I am impressed we have an actual official title for the movie over a year prior to its release. With Abrams gone, his idiotic shroud of secrecy seems to have gone with him. Good.

Well at least he has rectified that with Star Wars. He;s let enough tidbits out 8 months before the SW 7 that I am quite satisfied to wait until opening night without any further information on the movie.

I think that has more to do with Disney calling the shots than it does with Abrams himself.

Its got a sort of double meaning like STID. 1) A star trek beyond the final frontier/galaxy. 2) 'Star Trek' is going beyond what's gone before (2 mainly earth based movies) beyond Darkness beyond whats expected

I think it's a good title, according to Pegg, "exploration and adventure in deep space".
Negative review? No. But there will always be someone to criticize it.

I am torn between getting more advanced hints/information, and watching it when it comes out with little to no previous knowledge. But, I am one on this Board who Truly Drank the Kool-Aide and still do; I have a complete (I know some would say here, "irrational") dedication and devotion to the franchise, heavy on the "emotional".

That is OK, because there seems to be (mostly) room for all perspectives here. I am excited and hopeful for a good script and a good plot vehicle and mostly, to see the Enterprise again, and hear the music, and see the familiars, and remember being that young boy and now old man, so shaped and influenced by the "je ne sais quoi" of this thing we like/love!

Sit with me at the Google-Plex Cinema...I will buy the popcorn and Junior Mints...already got the Kool-Aide!

This pleases me. Also, I love the new info we have from Pegg about where he plans on taking the film. I've said it before, but I'm confident the film is in good hands.
