KA2 was heavily pirated? I don't remember that... But you know what I do remember? I remember it being absolutely fucking terrible. Like, offensively terrible.

Also, I remember Avatar being one of the best selling home video titles in history, and at the same time being one of the most pirated movies ever.

I'm up to episode 8. Interesting turn with Vanessa becoming actively involved with Fisk's operation.

Urich is really well cast from what I remember of the comics character...an interesting example of how you can cast so obviously against physical type (the race thing), yet still get a portrayal that makes it seem like the character walked right off of the comics page. (As a personal bonus, he happens to remind me of an old journalism professor....)

The show in general so far...it tends to get a bit brutal/gory/disturbing for my tastes, but I still like the characters and find the overall story intriguing. I'm particularly curious to see how "The Devil of Hell's Kitchen" digs himself out of this PR hole he's gotten into.

I'm still amazed by how low the reported number of pirates pirating Game of Thrones is.

    2.1 million. Globally.

I would have guessed that it was 210 million, and even that seems small.

There is after all 6 billion people and rising living here.

    There's an old joke.

How many copies of Microsoft Word did Microsoft sell in China?

    Wrong way a round.

The first couple episodes were superchargings of sex a violence to make sure the small brained thugs who don't understand subtle stick around for the subtle when it showed up. If you can understand subtle, then you can enjoy the middle and not just be like a puppy scratching at a door wondering where the super charged sex and violence has gone and when it's coming back.

They have to make you stop multitaking and say "Wow" out loud as quickly as possible or you're (do I really have to explain what a collective "you" is? I'm talking to the group.) not going to make it past episode 4.

Also, I'm not just talking about Daredevil.

I'm not convinced she had the option. Wesley wasn't restrained in any way; he could easily have caught up with her. Once he threatened her with the gun, in my books she was completely justified.

I can't speak for the legalities, however.

Murdock's other girl friend kills 9 people a day before breakfast.

I wonder if Scarlet would slum it on Netflix?

I always liked this cover growing up.

    Yeah, it's a cool cover.

I doubt Black Widow will appear on the show, but it is interesting there's such a strong connection between them considering Daredevil rarely gets dragged into the Avengers world.

Bendis tried to include Daredevil in his Avengers line up, but that didn't last long

    Finished last night.

I was shocked and saddened to see...
    Ben Urich killed.

    As for Karen's actions...
Given how these people operated, and the things that they'd already done, her taking that opportunity in the heat of the moment was completely understandable and natural. And hell, the guy had just forcefully abducted her and threatened her life and the lives of others...it's not like she shot him in the street.

In any case, it had ramifications on her and served as a "there but for the grace of god" contrast against Matt, who'd been doing a lot of hand-wringing about whether or not he should kill.

As for the debut of the costume (We all know there's a costume debut, right?)...I was afraid of that. A phenomenon that I've experienced watching modern super-hero films, going back at least as far as Raimi's Spider-Man, is that sometimes when the character you've invested in the story of finally goes full-costume, it feels...off...like the character literally just became a different person who dresses a lot more silly. The MCU films have largely avoided this...IM always got particular kudos from me for successfully reminding us that it was RDJ's Stark inside the suit via those heads-up display shots.

Here, after investing in Matt doing his work in more naturalistic fighting togs for 13 episodes, even though I knew the suit was coming and I'd seen a still picture of it...it just didn't feel like it was him anymore. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but it's an argument for having unveiled the suit a bit sooner...maybe had him using it for an entire episode. It would've given me a chance to get more used to it.

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about how they handled the costume. We were told in interviews that the suit would "evolve" over the season, so I assumed that Matt would be gradually adding body armor and equipment and getting closer and closer over the season. But that's not what we got. I guess that's understandable given how broke he was -- although even Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker was able to buy some costume components online.

Anyway, I hope Daredevil does make guest appearances in the other three Netflix shows, if only so we can see more of the full-fledged costumed hero in action without having to wait until The Defenders. They really gave him short shrift here.

I had mixed feelings over the costume but that was because I knew it was coming. However, if it means Matt doesn't end up close to death every night then I can get on board with it.

I'm actually glad to see the costume be developed the way that it was, and developed from elements of Matt's story, rather than an arbitrary look and design.

I'm not 100% on board with the look, but I think it could grow on me, just like the black costume did. I agree that it needed more screen time to feel like it was Matt in there, but that will likely come with time.

My two biggest annoyances were the last couple of deaths of main characters: Ben and Wesley. While I can understand the motivation behind the two it seemed both wasteful and forced from a story perspective. Having Ben living in fear of being discovered would add to the intensity and Wesley running things outside of prison for Fisk could have longer and more interesting implications.

Overall, if the costume is handled well next season, I think I could get on board.

It works for me. Honestly so long as it's red, has the devil mask, is suitably flexible, looks reasonably plausible while keeping the overall aesthetic appropriately minimalist, you can't go too far wrong.
The "DD" symbol can come later if necessary, but it just wouldn't make sense to have that at this point seeing as he got the name *after* he got the armor.

I'm taking a break from Daredevil for a while, while I work on rewatching the MCU Phase 2 movies and getting caught up on other stuff, but I thought I'd pop in real quick and let anyone who is interested know that Comixology is running a sale of DD collections. They've got the first volumes of Miller's run, Bendis's, the first volumes of Waid's two runs, Born Again, and Guardian Devil all for $4.99USD each. I just picked up the Miller and Bendis collections.
If you're like me and curious to check out DD comics after watching the show, this strikes me as the perfect opportunity to do it.

I never read Bendis' run on DD, is it good, or is it too... Bendis-y?
