Finished season one

I feel that Captain Kirk awesomfies everything.

I really only have two I disliked, The Alternative Factor for boringness and The Omega Glory for america fuckyeahness.

Okay I have inflated attachment from teenage infatuation imprinting.

Omega is perfectly good right up until the end.

But Alternative is just awful. Though it truly is a sad thing that the Lazarus's are trapped forever in battle, sometimes when it's a lovely sunny day I think about this.

Done with season 2. I enjoyed it more than the first.

Amok Time
Mirror, Mirror
I, Mudd
Metamorphosis
Journey To Babel (favourite, a good emotional story. The scene with Spock and Amanda made the episode)
Friday's Child
The Deadly Years
The Trouble With Tribbles
A Piece Of The Action
Return To Tomorrow

@Isolinear, you wanted to know my thoughts on Assignment: Earth. Well, I spent the entire episode in a state of confusion regarding Gary Seven. Also kept thinking "What's with the cat?" I had to actually look up the summary of the episode afterwards. The crew wasn't in it a whole lot either. I was surprised to learn that it was intended to be a pilot for another show.

I watched DS9, TNG, Voyager, and then finally TOS because my husband insisted on it. Now I can't even remember why I was so resistant. IT'S AWESOME!! Just wish Uhura had a bigger role.

Assignment Earth was supposed to be a pilot for another series that never eventuated. In the far past they would have a launch off show contained within the mothership show.

Watching Spock pet a cat is the reason we need this episode to exist.

Return To Tomorrow
A favorite of mine!

In my opinion the episode is so much more 'sixties' than most other episodes. In a bad way. The rest of the episodes haven't aged as much.

I assume you're going straight into Season 3? Should be interesting.... :)

I know many people think of Season 3 as the weaker one, but (in my opinion) some very good TOS episodes are in there:

- The Paradise Syndrome
- The Enterprise Incident
- For the World is Hollow and I have Touched the Sky
- The Empath (very different in a 'The Thaw' kind of way)
- Day of the Dove
- The Cloud Minders
- All Our Yesterdays
- Turnabout Intruder (Pure Shatner overacting deliciousness)

I have already seen All Our Yesterdays and loved it! Another of my "random episodes watch". Poor Spock:(

Spock's Brain as well which was um... Interesting.

UPDATE: Just finished The Paradise Syndrome. Isn't Kirk's kiss with Miramanee technically the first interracial kiss? Rather than with Uhura?

Ah yes, Season Three.... The One That Didn't Happen (tm).

I can't find much background information on Sabrina Scharf, the actress who played Miramanee. So I don't know if she really was Native American. Maybe somebody else knows.

Have you seen the second season yet? William Shatner and Barbara Luna's kiss in Season two's "Mirror, Mirror" should count for something, but nobody ever seems to think of that when this topic comes up.

I don't think Schraf is a Native American. I've a feeling white characters have been kissing Native American characters on TV long before Star Trek.

Well if I'm on season 3, chances are I've seen 2:) I completely forgot about the Mirror, Mirror kiss.

According to IMDB, Barbara Luna is "Italian, Hungarian, Spanish, Portuguese and Filipino".
Does that make the kiss count even more?!

Wow. Forget about interracial. Now we're talking multiracial!

Regarding "Day Of The Dove" which I really enjoyed btw. When Kirk picks up Chekov and carries him to sickbay, I kept thinking that either Shatner is really strong or Walter Koenig is really light. Either way it reminded me of a father/son-like moment.

Sabrina Scharf is from Ohio, born Sandra Mae Trentman, but IMDB gives no info on her heritage. She was a hippie in Easy Rider. Robert Walker Jr. of "Charlie X", and Michael Pataki of "Tribbles" were also in the film.
