Just simulating that...

Kira wins the boxing and talent competitions, Dax recovers and wins the drinking and the swimsuit competitions.

Tie.

Kira wins the question round:

Quark: "Kira, what will you do if you win the title of Miss Deep Space Nine?"

Kira: KILL GUL DUKAT! Erm....I mean....free Romulan Ale for everyone?

(crowd cheers)

Also, personally I'd say Rom would win the swimsuit competition.

Kira has become my favorite character on the show, but it was a slow, slow burn. She just feels layered and complex, but not for complexity's sake - she simply feels like a real person with a real history and I think Nana Visitor did a very good job with her.

Ezri is adorable and charming, but not the most interesting character ever. Jadzia is fascinating in concept, but didn't really get a lot out of that interesting premise, whether that's due to a lack of acting chops or the fault of the writers/producers - probably a bit of both.

Young SPCTRE totally had crushes on both Jadzia and later Ezri, but that surely was more due to superficial reasons, not because they were super interesting characters.

Ezri was exactly the sort of character I disliked, the sort of character I had loathed in other shows.

I ADORED HER.

I don't know why  It was like magic!

I think I got too much of the "manic pixie girl" angle from her, however, she did grow on me. I just felt like I couldn't enjoy her completely because she wasn't *my* Dax. I actually ended up making a meme to that effect to deal with my misdirected rage lolll.

Jadzia > Ezri, but Nicole > Terry

I think that had the series begun with Nicole de Boer in the Dax role, there would have been much more exploration of Trill nature. However, I like the way Jadzia worked her way into stories.

Kira--her character actually makes you believe she can actually fight. Sometimes she could be so serious it would be funny--literally.

Jadzia--one problem I eventually noticed was that she portrayed the perfect every woman--she could do everything and was pretty on top of it.

She liked to party, was very smart, had rank, hung around Klingons, knew how to fight with a Batleth-- she was a too perfect.

What I did like about Jadzia--yep, true--her presence. You did notice her. She was always cracking smarky jokes. Or playing jokes on other people.

Ezri-- I always thought her introduction had too many coincidences--female, Trill, science officer, blue uniform--but her "truth about the Klingons" speech won me over.

Kira. Kira was believable as a tougher fighter than anyone in a Starfleet uniform (sorry, Worf). Also compassionate and spiritual and patriotic.

Jadzia was the sort of pretty Hollywood likes. As others have said, she was portrayed as perfect at so many things it became unbelievable. Real characters have strengths and weaknesses. To me, she was only marginally believable as a science officer or senior officer and had a lot of trouble as a 300 year old wise person. A hard role for any actor, and for any writer. While she had some good scenes and some good episodes, but overall not the strongest character. She had trouble seeming emotionally invested in what was happening, like in Sword of Kahless she didn't seem to care much whether any of them got out of the cave or what happened to the sword, the only surprise was that she went on the trip at all.
In Facets, the interesting parts went to all the other actors, especially Auberjonois; that episode should have been great for Jadzia but instead she just seemed like filler.

Ezri at least had some strengths and weaknesses, and I think showed off her joined trill nature more successfully than Jadzia. Maybe it was a writing team that had learned better, but I think a better actress had a lot to do with it.

Hmm I didn't see Jadzia as perfect - in fact, her behavior toward Martok's wife was grating and just plain ridiculous. I also strongly disliked how she treated Worf when they were on Risa.

Oh, I voted Kira then I realized the poll was about attractiveness.

I guess Dax. But Kira's the better character. And if I was in a life threatening situation and could pick one of them to be on my side, Kira by a mile.

@JadziaDax

I found Worf's attitude toward Jadzia annoyingly intolerant at times. Like, he knew about her sexual openness, playfulness, and frivolity before he started dating her and then constantly shamed her about it.

Yes. I know a lot of people say Jadzia had no personality and was just a pretty face but that's not the case for me at all. I find both Kira and Ezri to be more attractive - I often prefer short hair on women (and men, really). I liked Jadzia's presence. This Tumblr post sums up my feelings on her: http://logicgunn.tumblr.com/post/114600997116/the-thing-about-jadzia-dax-is-that-she-was-the

That's a great piece on tumblr. I did always admire her relationship with Quark, one of the few who didn't look down on Ferengi. Played cards with him, drank with him.. and just reading it I remembered how much I enjoyed that element of her personality(s). Kira used to shit me to tears with her nastiness to the Ferengi. And of course you had Sisko with a stick up his butt only barely tolerating their presence.

Yeah he really pissed me off in that episode too. In fact, that whole episode just pissed me off lol. Neither seemed willing to compromise! I mean both of them knew how each other felt about certain things but they kept acting out. So frustrating - just like a real life relationship. Ugh.

Yeah I mean I understand the nastiness toward Ferengi in the Next Generation, but a lot of it seemed unwarranted on DS9. Some of it was humorous but at other times it came off as pretty damn xenophobic. I mean Quark had his problems and was certainly sketchy, but I think he was a good guy deep down as evidenced by many of his actions. Whenever he did something good, he'd always try to play it off but we all saw it for what it was! I found Rom to be rather sweet and Nog was... well, Nog. haha

I'm pleasantly surprised at the amount of support for Ezri - usually she winds up shooting straight to the top of the most hated lists - but considering the tiny amount of time she had to develop, I thought she was absolutely fantastic (one of the best in any trek series). If she had been around for a full 7 seasons, I honestly think she would've blown both Kira and Jadzia out of the water.

As for Kira and Jadzia - I voted Jadzia, because she was my childhood favorite, but it's really more or less a tie for me. Kira is probably the more interesting/developed character, but Jadzia is the one I like better. Kira can often have a very grating personality, sometimes bordering on bigotry (though understandably so) which really turns me off. Jadzia very often really felt like the heart of the crew - she was open and friendly with everyone, she met people on their own terms rather than (like so many of the other characters) forcing everyone to adapt to her.

If they were as awful and barely tolerateable as Sisko made out why didn't the Feds or the Bajorans or whoever had the contract for the bar just not renew it? Surely the bar would be a much better place if staffed by Starfleet personel! Everyone loves synthehol and that gambling stuff is just silly! Also we'd get some great classical music, what a hot spot the place would become.

I can't stop yawning thinking about a starfleet run bar.

10 fwd scenes always put me to sleep too.

Let your hair down! Push tiny bits of food around on your plate! That soothing grey decor is just what you need after a long hard day.

What the hell! This is absurd! If there were a Starfleet run bar, they'd have Smooth Jazz! And people would stand around a buffet, making snide comments about alien foods.

Yeah, see I started with DS9 so I got used to Quark's. Then when I watched TNG, I was actually surprised at how tame Ten Forward was in comparison. It also looks really bland. Quark's had character.

But not, as Bad Thoughts reminds us, Smooth Jazz.

Maybe Quark needed to suck up to Sisko with some starfleet approved music and kick everyone out who burped and slammed their pint glasses down too hard.

I cannot understand how Ezri is could be one of the most hated characters. Nicole de Boer is such a nice actress. And I prefer Ezri over Jadzia even though I like both. As to the original thread, I voted for Kira as I mentioned before. EnriqueH obviously means Jadzia with Dax and not yet Ezri, as he hasn´t watched the later DS9 seasons yet. You can´t compare either Ezri or Jadzia with Kira.
