Re: J. Ryan Speaks About Her ‘Intentionally Unpleasant’ Experiences on

Can you imagine anyone in Star Trek Monthly saying, "Working with thatperson is a real pain in the ass"? You're not allowed to say that stuff when the show is on. You're doing the interview to promote the show as well as yourself.

+1.

Generally speaking, Trek fans love the "one big happy family" thing, even if it turns out to be an illusion.

As the lead on the show it was in KM's best interest to sell the illusion. And as the new kid on the block, JR would have been insane to start airing dirty laundry in the press during the show's run.

Urbandefault, that is possible, however a few years after Voyager ended although Mulgrew stated they " didnt gel", Ryan continued to praise Mulgrew . This change(in Ryan) had only surfaced within the last few years :p

Warehouse13-JeriRyan.jpg

Ryan interview on Syfy Conference call interview about her appearance on Warehouse 13 and is asked about Kate Mulgrew who also appeared in 3 episodes 7/28/11 (tvmegasite.net)

Michael Hinman:
I know that Eddie McClintock was also very excited on his Twitter account talking about it quite a bit. I was just wondering, Kate Mulgrew is also going to be guest starring in some episodes. Are you sharing any episodes with her?

Jeri Ryan: No.

((Crosstalk))

Michael Hinman: Would you like to have? And what would that be like having you two working together again?

Jeri Ryan: Yes, it’d be nice to see her. It’s been a long time so it’d be funny.

Michael Hinman: I bet.

Jeri Ryan: Especially in a different context.

Michael Hinman: I’m sorry?

(Jeri becomes touchy)

Jeri Ryan: Did we just black out there? I said no, it would be funny...

Michael Hinman:
Yes, I think so. I’m sorry.

Jeri Ryan: ...especially in a different context.

Michael Hinman: I guess this is kind of like your first trip back into science fiction in a way, you know, since Voyager. What’s it been like to do that? What’s it like to kind of return to that genre?

Jeri Ryan: Well, I mean I’d be eager to do a lot of stuff in that genre that you don’t really get to do in typical drama or comedy which is one of the reasons you become an actor is to do as many different things as you can and live as many different lives as you can. And it’s fun to do a role where you can really kind of suspend reality a bit. It’s a good time. And it’s a great...

Michael Hinman: Excellent.

I had to read what Ryan said twice and i think she means would like to work with Mulgrew in a none Janeway/7 type setting . I think she meant a role where she is playing the lead no doubt , although it will fail because Mulgrew will always be the lead in my opinion either way i think she is bulls!iting:techman:.

Boy the womans so touchy. Not long before Warehouse , she had just gotten married and had a daughter. She should be singing nursery rhymes day in day out ffs!:scream:...:guffaw:

Re: J. Ryan Speaks About Her ‘Intentionally Unpleasant’ Experiences on

You know I'd really like to see Jeri Ryan meet my staff.

That would be a real staff meeting.

Re: J. Ryan Speaks About Her ‘Intentionally Unpleasant’ Experiences on

Tell them not to mention Mulgrew, if they value their positions :rommie:..

Re: J. Ryan Speaks About Her ‘Intentionally Unpleasant’ Experiences on

Because Jeri'll bend his staff into new positions?

Re: J. Ryan Speaks About Her ‘Intentionally Unpleasant’ Experiences on

^ your so silly..Positions ie; Role <shoves you>:p

Re: J. Ryan Speaks About Her ‘Intentionally Unpleasant’ Experiences on

Jeri was in the original Flash 25 years ago for about 5 minutes.

I wonder if she's going to wangle for a small part in the new Flash?

Ugh, stay classy. Do we really need more examples of sexist entitlement in these forums?

Pretty much what I was going to say. Let's tone some of the sex talk down some. Thanks.

Sexist entitlement? Sex talk?

It's innuendo. The sexual content is entirely in "your" own interpretation (that's what made it a good joke)

Remember jokes?

Re: J. Ryan Speaks About Her ‘Intentionally Unpleasant’ Experiences on

Ugh:wtf:...I did not think Starborn Dragon meant in it in that way..well i hope he/she did not. I assumed he/she meant by Ryan's touchiness she could do with some counseling:alienblush:...:guffaw::guffaw:

And Yo! mod.. how comes i aint got my avatar acknowledgement yet? :(

Aren't jokes supposed to be funny? "I want to have sex with a celebrity" isn't all that humorous, just dull, predictable, and juvenile.

Re: J. Ryan Speaks About Her ‘Intentionally Unpleasant’ Experiences on

"Why do you hate jokes?" or variations of that line must be the number one reaction to whenever guys are called out for an entitled sexist remark.

I remember that every time my local Feminist Chapter drowns sexist pigs in menstrual blood.

I rate your post two and a half bored cats.

No, not necessarily. Have you never had a Christmas cracker?

And secondly, even if it's not funny to you, why is what you personally find funny, the only legitimate kind of humour that's allowed to be expressed?

And again, it was innuendo. The purpose of innuendo is for the hearer to create their own joke. The fact that you created one that was dull, predictable and juvenile simply reflects your personality

"Why do you hate jokes?"

I think you need to learn to read. I said "remember jokes"

And please explain to me how someone making a joke about finding a woman sexually attractive (leading to an erection) is a form of sexist entitlement

This should be good

Re: J. Ryan Speaks About Her ‘Intentionally Unpleasant’ Experiences on

I'm sorry, I can't talk about jokes because us feminists have no sense of humour. :(

I haven't, but I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean, anyway. An unfunny joke is, by definition, a lousy one. The whole point of jokes is to be funny.

And secondly, even if it's not funny to you, why is what you personally find funny, the only legitimate kind of humour that's allowed to be expressed?

If that humor comes at the expense of people who don't deserve to be denigrated in such a way, it's at least worth considering whether getting one's yuks is worth the price of being a crappy human being.

Good jokes punch up, not down. Men making crude sexual remarks about women has a long, nasty history. Men have traditionally gotten away with it because there was little women could do about it.

And again, it was innuendo. The purpose of innuendo is for the hearer to create their own joke. The fact that you created one that was dull, predictable and juvenile simply reflects your personality.

Calling it "innuendo" gives it too much credit. It's quite obvious what was intended. It was a cheap, lazy sex joke.

People are free to make whatever jokes they like, but maybe folks should aim higher and find appropriate targets for their humor, instead of going for the cheapest, basest riffs imaginable.

It's a shame some people don't want any quality in their humor.

Rubbish. :p Innuendo is an intentional double meaning; the sexual content is deliberately implied, it's not the "fault" of the person doing the interpreting if there's only one intended hidden meaning.
