TNG Music videos

As I didn't see any topics about this AND because I've created I TNG music video, therefore this topic.

I'm all ready working on an other tng music video.

I've created this week (in only 3 evenings) a short music video as a tribute to TNG. This one is about the death of Tasha Yar,so only first season images. I've used some wonderfull music of the movie "finding neverland" .

I wanna make some, but I can't find a way to get video clips off my DVD's. I could, theoretically, hook up a DVD player to this video capture box I have that I use for my video camera, and then put it on my computer that way, but I don't have a working DVD player (I watch all my DVD's on my laptop.) And I downloaded a program called Handbrake but it didn't work right (Windows Movie Maker doesn't accept MPEG4. Now, I could try that file on one of the programs that came with the video capture thing...)

If your laptop has an s-video out, you can connect it to your Video Capture Box (VCB). If you can connect your laptop to a TV, you can to a PC. Because in a music video you don't need audio, you can use only the video. But sound can also with the right plug.

I've also every dvd but it's to much work to digitize it at my pc, therefore I download the episodes. The quality is less, but it works. I use pinnacle studio for my video editing.

Will do and Will do. Glad you liked them. I was gonna try and make a new one today. the hardest thing is trying to come up with a song that I like.

Does anyone recommend a free DVD capture program? The program I have that I said I'd try that MPEG4 with can't capture right from my CD drive because the TNG DVDs are protected, and I tried it on a self made copy of the VIDEO_TS folder I got from my Insurrection DVD (in other words, I went to the properties of the DVD in My Computer, and literally copied and pasted the VIDEO_TS folder) but the video preview looks like crap (again, probably due to some protective encoding.) I haven't attempted that MPEG4 yet, but I doubt I'll get results.

I thought perhaps one of these game capture programs I've thought about downloading would work, unless they're specifically made to ONLY capture games.

I actually have a couple songs in mind... Those are easy. It's the clips I'm having trouble with.

I actually have a couple songs in mind... Those are easy. It's the clips I'm having trouble with.

Well I have this Program called DVD for Free on my comp. You get it from the Internet but I have had it for a good 4 or 5 years so I don't know if you'll still be able to find it. But that Gets you past the Protected stuff.

^And can it get you clips easily? Or is it like Handbrake and just shoves the whole disc in one unreadable (at least by my programs) MPEG4 file?

Ok, so does anyone know of any free (or EXTREMELY cheap) LEGAL programs that you can use to get video clips from a DVD? I'd really rather not have to get a new DVD player for the sole purpose of hooking it up to my computer...

Can you connect your stand alone dvd player to the PC? if so, just use Pinnacle Studio (10 for XP and 11 for Vista). You can record it while playing the dvd, just like a camcorder. So you can choose what to record and what not.

^I don't HAVE a stand alone DVD player! Mine broke last year! I watch DVDs either on my laptop or on my roommate's TV (which has a built in DVD player.) If I had one, I could connect it to my computer using the video capture box thing my dad gave me.

Does your laptop has a video out? if so, you can connect it to your pc. (not the plug for a monitor, but the s-video connection)
