TOS 50th Anniversary Trilogy: 1 - Cox, 2 - Mack, 3 - Ward&Dilmore

At least with TOS we know no one will be bumped off :D

Meh. It's Star Trek. Death is meaningless.

And I'm very much looking forward to this trilogy. TOS is currently my favorite in the book line. I wish the 24th century novels would return to their series' timeframes. At least once in a while.

Like Ryan, I don't usually go in for TOS-5YM stories, but with David Mack writing a TOS story, and with Greg Cox and WarDilmore handling the other stories, I'll have to check it out. I'd love to see three stories covering 23rd century stuff. I wonder if the wording of the interview on the trek collective was purposefully elusive about who the stories will be about. It kinda makes it seem like this won't be exclusively TOS characters. Maybe some Vanguard/Seekers characters too? Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part ;).

Either way, I'll be there for the whole thing. This is great news for the 50th anniversary :)

Re: David Mack writing first book in 50th anniversary trilogy

Are they three thematically linked stand alones, three separate but linked / sequential stories or three tightly plotted parts of one larger story ?

A thought occurs, maybe each book will be written in the style of the three seasons of TOS. Book 1 will be character-based drama, book 2 will have more of an action slant, and book 3 will just be horrible.

;)

You called it! Alas, Dayton and Kevin drew the short straw. :)

:bolian: Wow! This is great news a brand new Tos themed trilogy for the 5oth anniversary. I 've always hoped David Mack would write a Tos novel and now we're getting one yay! To have Greg Cox and Dayton ward& Kevin Dilmore writing the books is awesome news.

Re: David Mack writing first book in 50th anniversary trilogy

You guys will have your work cut out for you to match or exceed David R. George III's 40th anniversary Crucible trilogy... good luck and I can't wait to read 'em!

I'd disagree with that. I found that I wasn't able to get through book 1 since the story just wasn't moving, and I got bored. And I haven't picked up the book again to finish it.

Wow, I think that is the first time I've ever seen someone say something bad about the first Crucible book. I've heard some people not liking the second and thirds ones, but not the first.

I thought it was a case of diminishing returns, I liked book one, book two I barely got though and book three, I never finished.

This new Trilogy should be in good hands though and I'm looking forward to a "proper" TOS story from Mr Mack.

I hope this 3 new Books are about the Kirk Crew, not playing in the Kirk Universe like Vanguard Books. And i hope (for me) that this book will be released here in Germany. My English far to bad, so i can not read a whole Book.
Books written by this Writers Cox, Mack, Ward&Dilmore, they can only be great. :)

I don't think I'm giving anything away by revealing that, yes, these books are definitely about Captain Kirk and his crew.

I know Datirez from the Cross Cult Forum. I can see him jumping around as he is a big TOS fan.

We are both looking forward to seeing what is in store for us.

By the way: well done, Datirez!!!

I guess understanding the posts is easier than actually writing somethin in English.

Wow, I think that is the first time I've ever seen someone say something bad about the first Crucible book. I've heard some people not liking the second and thirds ones, but not the first.

I also found the first book to really drag, and it prevented me from finishing it and moving on to the others. I go back to it periodically and try again, but so far, I haven't made it past the half way point :(

Of course, there is no disrespect intended towards Mr. George. I've read everything else he has done in terms of Treklit, and consider myself a big DRG3 fan, but he has been known to be a bit verbose.

I'm gonna have to try again..
