TOS 50th Anniversary Trilogy: 1 - Cox, 2 - Mack, 3 - Ward&Dilmore

Re: David Mack writing first book in 50th anniversary trilogy

This is sure to be great if it's approved, but I'd love to have Section 31: Control first.

Re: David Mack writing first book in 50th anniversary trilogy

I hope it will be as good if not better than Destiny!

Re: David Mack writing first book in 50th anniversary trilogy

Actually, Greg Cox is writing Book One. I will be writing Book Two. Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore will be writing Book Three.

Aw, shucks, I've already told you too much. Ah, well. Good work, sleep well, I'll likely kill you all in the morning.

I love the Princess Bride reference. :guffaw:

Well, as you're blabbing...

Are they three thematically linked stand alones, three separate but linked / sequential stories or three tightly plotted parts of one larger story ?

I´d rather use my termination implant before you do that. But then I´ll miss out on the Cold Equation novels and Disavowed. :D

That's quite a line up.
I guess I'll need to double check that I lock my doors tonight.:klingon:

Re: David Mack writing first book in 50th anniversary trilogy

Should we change the title since we now know David Mack is writing the second, not the first, book?

Re: David Mack writing first book in 50th anniversary trilogy

You guys will have your work cut out for you to match or exceed David R. George III's 40th anniversary Crucible trilogy... good luck and I can't wait to read 'em!

Re: David Mack writing first book in 50th anniversary trilogy

This is Dave's first TOS work, right? He's done Vanguard and mirror-TOS, but no actual TOS if I recall correctly. (Assuming that this trilogy actually is "actual" TOS!)

Re: David Mack writing first book in 50th anniversary trilogy

This will be my first straight-up TOS adventure, yes.

As far as competing with DRGIII's Crucible trilogy, we're not thinking in those terms. We just want to tell a fun tale that honors the spirit and style of the original series.

I won't divulge any spoilers at this time, because the story is still in flux while we fine-tune our outlines with the editors and the licensor.

Re: David Mack writing first book in 50th anniversary trilogy

But it is a trilogy with a story through-line, it's not three separate adventures? That's awesome.

Re: David Mack writing first book in 50th anniversary trilogy

I usually don't go in for 5-year-mission tales, but I hope this will be too outstanding to pass up. Congrats to you four authors for such a high profile writing gig.

Thanks! As it happens, I've been working on the outline (and trading notes with the other authors) all night.

Pretty much the only ones I do go in for.

A thought occurs, maybe each book will be written in the style of the three seasons of TOS. Book 1 will be character-based drama, book 2 will have more of an action slant, and book 3 will just be horrible.

;)
