Oh, I wasn't disappointed. I'm just new to DC and comics in general and I decided I was more interested in the pre-New 52 comics. I did enjoy JL#1 when I read it on the release day, and I've been reading the Azzarello/Chiang WW trades and have been loving them. I was actually wondering what WW comics you guys would recommend once I'm done with Azzarello's? I'm curious to see a more traditional version of WW, because I got the impression that Azarello's was a very unique take on the character.

Any thoughts on their new direction for "Batman Beyond"? I'm guessing that BC's Tim Drake rumours are gonna be true. Sigh.

I really was looking forward to this book...but if they're going to be replacing Terry with Tim then I'm out.

I also finally dropped "Superman/Wonder Woman". I have no idea why they shifted Peter Tomasi onto this book after Soule left. He belongs and deserves his own Bat-Title.

Nope. It's an extension of Jurgens's Future End story (which features elements of Batman Beyond) and not a proper continuation of Batman Beyond. Besides Jurgens hasn't delivered in terms of writing for a long while look at his crappy Aquaman and the Others or his JLI, both ideas he inherited from much more talented creative teams and that he squandered.

You will need to get some feedback about WW from someone else because I don't know much about her books.

If you want to check out vintage DC that is really good, try anything Batman or Detective Comics from the seventies to early eighties. Those books really laid the groundwork for the modern character. I would also recommend Legion of Super-Heroes (and late issues of Superboy and the LSH for background on the stories) from the early eighties along with the New Teen Titans by Wolfman and Perez. Those were the hottest two comic runs in DC during that period.

Well, Gail Simone's run was great, and of course if you want a real classic George Perez's post Crisis on infinite Earth's run seems to be well loved (I've only read part of it, but I liked what I read). I've also heard that Greg Ruka's run was good, although I haven't tried it out.

Simone's first story the Circle was very good. Everything afterwards was lackluster either because she was being sabotaged behind the scenes or because she didn't know what to do with the post-Amazons Attack/secret identity/secret agent premise that she was given.

Greg Rucka's run was great. For a taste, you can check out the GN he wrote before-hand, "The Hiketeia".

And, of course, there's the brilliant "Spirit of Truth" by Paul Dini and Alex Ross.

those are all good suggestions. the only run i would add is the Mike Deodato run. i forget who was writing at the time, but those were some of the first WW comics i read.

and if you want a bit of real world thrown in i suggest The Secret History of Wonder Woman by Jill Lepore. very fascinating book.

Tottaly co-oping Conner's look from 2003-2011. Like wtf.

I guess it's supposed to be a combination of these two designs.

I disagree. The whole of Mike Deodato's run imo emphasized TnA and cheesecake and less on the feminist message of the book and the character. It was also the beginning of the larger trend in the Post-Crisis WW where the succeeding creative team would throw out everything done by their predecessors except of course the new team was vastly inferior to Perez and would go onto retcon several major elements of the Amazon history for no reason at all.

As for WW runs. I'd suggest

    Azzerello's and Chiang's

    Greg Rucka's

George Perez's (There's an omnibus of his coming out soon)

    Phil Jimmenz's

    Gail Simone's

I don't like the Superman in jeans approach at all. It's too much Superboy for my taste. I'm fine with the tight cropped hair and black shield background. It's a very origin retro throwback.

Wonder Woman with those armor shoulder pads I'm mixed about.
Don't like the side torso star(s), assuming one is on each side.
I always liked the pants so it's cool those are back and with that it makes the lower torso flap in front seem really silly. Don't like the black fabric in the costume though, that should be a dark blue if it's going to be there.

Superman returns to a black shield, Diana with black added to her costume...what's with the black? I kinda think it'll have context coming out of Convergence maybe?
