Series 9 Set Reports Thread (SPOILERS)

The Doctor called the identical-ness of Gwen Cooper and Gwyneth as "spatial genetic multiplicity". Davies' later explained that concept as the time rift in Cardiff echoing the physical characteristics of Gwen's DNA across time. At a VERY LONG STRETCH, you could argue that the Doctor's flaunting of the laws of time caused something similar in Caecilius and Frobisher, (though I agree the whole balancing thing still doesn't make logical sense).

As for why Twelve looks like them, who knows, yet. Whatever happened, it didn't include the accent!

Given the casting news, I'm guessing Tenerife is standing in for Karn. There's some long-range photos from yesterday's shooting and it was in a suitable rocky and desolate area.

Just had a thought, if indeed this is supposed to be Karn, then could the burnt guy be someone filling in for the John Simm Master, showing his regeneration into Missy?

And hopefully they'll explain that it's because of Karn intervention that he switched sexes and it is not a normal Timelord thing. :)

And thankfully it's already been established that it's a normal possibility, so that won't happen.

They never said how the Corsair did it, just that he was bad girl once.

Let's put it this way; the person in charge of making the show says it normal, so until he's gone that's not going to change.

But realistically, I can't imagine anyone given the job after him having a different view either.

Although, since we know the Sisterhood of Karn had a potion to direct regeneration towards female, ("What do you wish? Young or old? Fat or thin? Man or woman?") it's conceivable that if the Master indeed went to Karn, he likely drank the potion for female.

However, I agree that at this point the show is making it clear regeneration can naturally change genders anyway.

Yeaaaah, I don't think they're going to undo the gender change thing. Nope, it's a standard Time Lord thing.

On the show, they have NOT made it clear. Moffat has said it, but it has not been established on the show it can be done (without Karn-Aid™ or any other outside influence). When Moffat leaves, the next show-runner may or may not confirm ON-AIR.

As far as the show goes, the Corsair changed gender and the Master has changed gender - period. The fact that the Doctor was not shocked when Missy revealed herself as the Master could mean it's always a possibility or it could mean he knows that the Corsair switched with Karn-Aid™ and the Master may have done so too.

The Sisters of Karn have not been shown to be at the beck and call of Time Lords, on the contrary, the two times we've seen them, we've been shown that gaining their aid is a rare and special boon. Kinda difficult to believe they aided the Doctor, The master, and the Corsair 9and wasn't the Corsair said to been a female more than once?)

Nah, I think that's too much, I think the Corsair changed Gender naturally.

Moffat confirmed in DWM he is writing Episode 11, which will be a reworking of an old unused Big Finish script he was working on in his days running the comedy Coupling

That's interesting, as I was under the impression he hadn't written anything for Big Finish at all since, when they got the Doctor Who license, they didn't have McGann's services secured and he wasn't interested in writing for any of the others.

That was my impression as well. I'll be interested in seeing what comes from this script.

Not even Davison?
