Things that frustrate us all

My upstairs neighbors' dog. It barks and howls its head off at all hours.

Also, people who constantly use incorrect grammar/spelling and punctuation.

Check your local laws. A few years ago, for example, the county I live in passed a noise ordinance in regards to animals that cause a nusance like your neighbor's dog. The animal has to do it for at minimum length of time, preferably a recording made to provide proof, and you have to call and report it. After enough times, the city can deal with the pet if you cannot/will not. Your county may have some kind of law with similarities.

Windows 8! And it's damned charm apps. It's affected my start button/bar and now I can't even use said computer :(. So off to the computer people again.

Not today, but often: neighbors above my apartment. It´s sometimes a clattering in the night that makes me jump out of my skin: Partying between 1 and 5 in the night, the rattling of the washing maschine (in the night, of course) or running the vacuum (8 o´clock sunday morning) :brickwall:, not to mention taking a shower at three in the night........

I can understand being irritated by the partying and the washing machine and the vacuuming, but showering? Just how loud are the water pipes in your building?

I had a bit of a problem with the apartment that shares a common wall with mine -- the neighbors were moving stuff around (with lots of thumping and pounding) and scraping furniture across the floor (at least that's what it sounded like) well into the late evening hours. I politely asked the owner of the building to have a little talk with them, and it seems to have worked. No more late-night noise.

The way Americans pronounce "twat" (twod)

What's wrong with you people?

They talk't of his having a Cardinalls Hat
They'd send him as soon an Old Nuns Twat

Sometimes I hear the shower, sometimes not. What´s more, I can hear the neighbors above me (obviously foreign students) peeing - and I mean the sound of peeing - a gurgling sound :brickwall:. It´s good old German Plattenbau with hundreds of living quarters. I have complained with the concierge but the noise remained. Luckily I will relocate from my city to a town I´m familiar with, and the new apartment will be in the third floor. No elevator, but I´m fine with that. Stair climbing is good for your health.

Gout.

If I eat certain foods I understand but for 3 days I didn't eat anything(that causes it to my knowledge) and it happened.

Gout is a build up, it doesn't just happen overnight.

I don't know what it is about people and entrace/exit doors in big grocery stores that compels then to STOP in front of or in the middle of, but yet again today I encountered this.

So my foot/feet hurt for no reason?

ETA: It didn't happen overnight. My apologies.

Do not know which Americans you are talking to, but us Cub-fearin', beer drinkin', steak eatin', good lovin', hard working Chicagoans pronounce it loud and proud, the way it is meant to be; Tw*t! (rhymes with "Hot") ...yeah, baby!!!!!

So sorry you are in pain, but I am pretty darned sure you are NOT worthless to those you see, and I would bet you have lots of worth, and people that love you very much! :techman:

Then you're not pronouncing it the way it's meant to be

How can it rhyme with hot. At some point it travelled to American in its correct form then someone, somewhere screwed around with it until you ended up with twot (I'm picturing a Bostonian saying twat correctly but with their accent making it sound like twot......that could be an explanation)

I prefer Twit. It accurately describes people who spend way too much time on a certain social media site. Maybe you can tell I am not one.

Good to "hear" you! We do not get enough of your posts, IMHO! I enjoy them very much.

Tomato, Tomahto?
Potato, Potahto?
Guess I should have been more clear, in that my "circle" and the people I kow pronounce it that way. :techman: :)

...yeah, but your Lordship, it is fun and educational to be part of this Forum, and hard to stay away from, sometimes. Interesting topics. Interesting people. :)
