Name your favorite Star Trek authors and explain your choice. You may vote for more than just one. I want you to spare you the agony of choice .
There are far too many to include them all, so if you don´t find your favorite, just vote for "another". :)

This is like asking parents to choose between their children, isn't it? A great many authors on the list whose works I've enjoyed, but the two who stand out from the crowd remain KRAD and Christopher. Completely different styles, but both are, to me, authors who excel at weaving their stories within the grander universe. You can tell they put a lot of effort into their research and I appreciate that.

I've always really liked the personable side of KRAD's stories, he really gets the characters, excels at creating new ones, and his balance of comedy and drama has always been just right for me. Christopher's stories I appreciate a lot for the level of Science he brings to SF, and the complexity of his tales.

You´re right. That´s why I decided to take the multiple choice option. I wanted you to choose just one of them in the first place. But I had my own difficulties. There are only few authors who didn´t manage to captivate me, one way or another.

I appreciate DRG III with his ability to fill characters with life. KRAD is really a Klingon expert.
David Mack is the man for action, political intrigues and spy stories. His characters are not easy to read, which makes them all the more interesting.
Kirsten Beyer makes me happy to be able to read her novels in English as soon as they are available on Amazon.de.

Kirsten Beyer, no question. There are others that I like quite a lot; my vote for second place would be like a 5 way tie. But Beyer is first.

Greg Cox and Dayton Ward. Both have a feel for the TOS universe and characters far beyond the other authors on the list.

I also like A.C. Crispins Sarek and the Yesterday Saga, not to mention Vulcan´s Forge and Vulcan´s Heart by Susan Shwartz and Josepha Sherman. They have a knack for Vulcans and Romulans :rommie:.

Where are the Peter David Fans? I know he is the man for New Frontier, but TNG "Q-in-Law", "Q-Squared", "Imzadi" and "Imzadi II" are my all-time favorites.

I like A.c. Crispin and Diane Duane. I like all the authors you have in your poll. It's hard to choose a favorite author. I like Greg Cox's Tos novels. And David Macks Vanguard and Data series.I like all of the authors books that came out last year were all terrific.I like S.D. Perry and Heather Jarman's ds9 novels.I really Kirsten Beyer's Voyager novels.:)And Christopher Bennets Enterprise novels.

David Mack and Greg Cox. Loved the Khan trilogy. Loved the Vanguard series. Can't remember a bad book turned in by these guys.

I voted for 6 people. :D

But if I had to vote for just one, this time I would be able to choose. While I like and would blindly take a book written by many Trek writers knowing it'd be good, I especially like Christopher L. Bennett's work.

I guess he is pleased to hear that.

I had to think about this one for awhile. Since I could only vote for on I choose James Swallow, the author of my favorite Trek book "Cast No Shadow". Though Chris, Dave, and Kirsten have written some awesome books.

Sorry, the thread title is misleading. You could have voted for more than just one author, as I mentioned in my opening. :)

I really enjoyed Una McCormacks Hollow Men and Neverending Sacrifice. She is well-versed in handling the Cardassians, especially Rugal and Garak. On the other hand, I´m no fan of Typhon Pact - Brinkmanship. Nonetheless, I´m waiting eagerly for the German translation of The Missing.

Pad & Krad are my favourite up there

Duane, Crispin, the Reeves Stevens and Ford of those not listed.

I´ve forgotten Michael Jan Friedman. I´m not familiar with all the Stargazer novels, but I enjoyed Kahless and several other ones, even Death in Winter.

I love KRAD's political/ Klingon bent. I love Christopher Bennett's more hard sci-fi take on Star Trek (and his fill-in-the-gaps type stories). I'm a huge fan of what Bayer has done with the Voyager relaunch. Growing up, Voyager was may favorite series, but before Kirsten Bayer's novels DS9 was slowing edging out Voyager. Now, Voyager is my absolute favorite again. I did enjoy Christie Golden's take on Voyager, though I could never understand why Lyssa Campbell was so important  I've always enjoyed Cox's take on TOS, he really gets the characters. I love David R. George III's more operatic take on DS9. And Una McCormack's novels are always a joy to read. I especially love what she's been doing with Beverly Crusher lately.

Then you have certainly enjoyed

Lyssa being ripped apart by a klingon beast
:klingon:

 Actually, I felt it was fitting for a character so randomly introduced to be so randomly
dispatched
.

My only complaint about the Golden to Bayer transition was the way
Jarem Kaz was killed off. I felt a bit cheated by the sudden loss of a character with so much potenital.
