Do you think Kirk would have begged Q to save them from the Borg

If the prefix code fails against Reliant, than Kirk's only recourse is to beam himself over to Reliant and hope Captain Spock can not only get Enterprise out of there, but also hope Khan keeps his word. Kirk's ship and more importantly his crew are what matter to him.

With the Borg, that may not be an option. IN Q Who the Borg only seem interested in the Enterprise, not the crew. If assimulation is not on the table, than Kirk can sacrifice the Enterprise to save his crew. Though I don't know how they could manage to get home unless they somehow figured a way to take over the Cube. If
assimilation is on the table, the Borg are not about to negotiate for just Kirk. Negotiations are irrelevant. Your technological and biological distinctiveness will be our own. You will be assimilated.

The borg only negotiate with Janeway because the borg queen recognizes her a keen spirit in bitchiness.

Kirk, having built up an immunity to iocaine powder, would O.D. on kironide, give Q a knife, then—with a gesture—force him to hold it to the Borg queen's throat.

I am sorry... What???

Watch THE PRINCESS BRIDE (iocaine powder).
Then watch "Plato's Stepchildren" (kironide).
Ok, leaving aside the fact I don't read the books. I am a series+movies purist. I don't pay that much attention to the names of the fake chemicals they use. But I remember Plato's stepchildren very well so I see what you mean. It's not my favorite TOS episode mind you, not by a very long shot.
