Yeah, haircut lady's ominous husband smoking ominously on the ominous porch at night wasn't at all ominous.
Also, there is a definite creep factor. Why would they be so accepting of these new people? So shiny, happy people? Waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Carol's interview was made to make them totally underestimate her. I laughed when she talked about her husband being such a great guy.
i'm not sure if they encountered the Wolves already... if one of the 3 who they exiled is now the leader of them.

i think they're just setting up the creepiness t reveal that the Alexandria group is actually legit...just inexperienced.

Mr. ROTC was just playing at being Super Duper Zombie Killer, but Tara and Glenn are actually the real deal. I guess Noah has experience, but I haven't really seen him in action much.
I'm hoping we just haven't met all of the community yet, because as it stands, there's not that many people, & frankly, I'm not as impressed with their walls as they seem to be. The prison seems like a much stronger fortress, & that didn't hold. That said, from a production end, this looks to be an invested location, like the prison was & Terminus wasn't. We're probably staying here a while. The crew are building whole houses in that neighborhood according to Talking DeadRyan8bit[/quote said:A lot of characters are cut to make room for the characters that weren't there in the comics
I think Deanna may know that there's bigger threats out there and didn't bring Rick's group in so much as cannon fodder but to steel their pacified community. If Rick's group was being watched for a while the Deanna would know how skilled Rick's group is out there in the wilds and how they may be able help protect her people and make them more battle-ready.
Didn't like the tone of Rick saying they'll take it, but the idea is right. They've got the numbers and the experience to make this work. If they can't make the current group stronger with training and help in the current structure, Rick's group will have to take over running the place, to keep both the town and Rick's group safe. From what we've seen, defendable enough of a place, if you've got the training and experience.
Carol's interview was priceless. She made herself sound like June Cleaver. It was epic. I wondered why she fumbled with the gun. I thought maybe her injuries were bothering her. Then came the interview. I about choked on soda when she called Ed a dear sweet man or something like that.
I really liked the episode. Didn't really get the, "sustainable neighborhood," thing. Are there any real life examples of this? I cannot find any real life examples.
I could be wrong. But I think they were exiled because they were kidnapping children and giving them to a corruptive group of people as food, to keep them from attacking the Alexandria safezone. But I don't think Enid doing same thing. But I do think she is stealing something for the same reason. What did Deanna say? That she exiled three people because they weren't a fit? Perhaps that is to be Daryl's fate and Rick's group will have a big problem with it.
I'm getting the sense that there's some underlying issues in paradise. Probably no different than any town without zombies running around.
I know it's probably unlikely (and I'm trying to stay away from any comic spoilers), but personally I'm hoping for once that there ISN'T some nefarious or hidden "secret" to the place at all. And that the main problem is just what was hinted at in this episode-- that it's populated by a bunch of weak, soft, or just plain stupid people who eventually start to turn on the newcomers because they feel judged or intimidated or for some other petty reason. And so they decide they want them all thrown out... which of course leads to Rick taking the place over.
They'd be stupid to try to oust Daryl. I get the impression that the unspoken truth about this community is that they have enemies. That's why everything has the ominous factor. It's not just that they all can't be trusted. They got problems on the horizon & need people like Rick's group, not just for cannon fodder, but for front line infantry, command leadership & general increased threat potential.
Constable Rick will be General Rick in short order & none of these twerps in town will factor much in the show of strength. In fact, if this Congresswoman is on the level, then I suspect she's not long for this world at all
