Uh...yeah.The "taking a day off work" part is just a bit strange to me. What boss would even let one of their employees take a day off work because of an actor or celebrity dying? I know that if I tried that with my boss, he would laugh and say, "You're kidding right?"
Not strange at all, at least to me. I've taken "sick" days at work before because I was caught up in a good book and wanted to finish it. Usually you don't have to give a reason why you are taking off, if you have sick or vacation time, they don't ask for a reason.
I have to agree Austin here. I am quite saddened by the loss of Leonard Nimoy, but I can also put things in perspective. My grief is nowhere on the same level as his family and close friends--they actually knew him.
Reminds me of how many people were going on and on when Princess Diana died--people who only knew her (and practically not at all) from tabloids and occasional appearances on television. And she didn't do half of what Nimoy accomplished in his life. It's almost as if there is something of a contest to prove who is the most feeling and caring.
That is ridiculous. I find that to be an immature and slack attitude.I've taken "sick" days at work before because I was caught up in a good book and wanted to finish it. Usually you don't have to give a reason why you are taking off, if you have sick or vacation time, they don't ask for a reason.
I can understand taking a day off for a severe and incapacitating depression, but just to finish a fucking book or some other lame excuse.
If I was your employer and I learned of that you would definitely be on my radar as someone of questionable judgment.
