The Undiscovered Country. It's really the only Star Trek movie I consider a good movie even when divorced from its relation to Star Trek.
I really loved the way the Klingons were portrayed in it, in my eyes the UC Klingons were better than those that came before AND after.

The only bald klingon for a long time, with a bolted on eye-patch.

TSFS. Great crew chemistry. They risked giving up everything they had to save Spock, as he'd have done for them. The loss of the Enterprise. The death of Kirk's son.

"I...have had...enough of...YOU!!" Epic Kirk. :techman:

Deforest Kelly and Christopher Lloyd were both great in that film. I had a lot of problems with it otherwise:

1. Robin Curtis as Saavik. Just not the same...
2. Kirk's scene where he finds out his son died. It wasn't exactly "A-List" acting.
3. The name of the movie. The Search for Spock is just too direct. Why eliminate any element of surprise for the audience about Spock's resurrection? Let the audience piece it together as they go. Star Trek: Genesis would have been a better title.
4. The whole concept of regenerating a human being this way. We know that human beings develop things like the ability to form and recognize speech very early in their childhood. I am not sure how half-Vulcan development works, but Spock would have basically been feral growing up in that wilderness created by the Genesis project.

The answer is TWOK, of course, but I voted for TFF just to balance things out
I don't dislike any of the TOS movies. They all have good elements. And TFF has a few of my favourites (you know the bits I mean).

Whoever voted for The Motion Picture should be shot.
This is not exactly the attitude of tolerance for which the show stands.

I voted for TVH.

TSFS is up there too, but I love *ALL* the TOS films.

I love TMP, though I understand some of the criticisms. This year, finally, I had an epiphany regarding TFF, so I even enjoy that one, (despite its well-documented and well-discussed flaws). I have some problems with TUC, but it's still a good film.

And, of course, I enjoy TWOK tremendously. I consider IV and III my favorites, but I have to give it to TWOK: it probably best represents the movie franchise.

It also was not a serious statement.

Jokes like that can get lost in translation. I've gotten into it with other members based on misinterpretations of my sense of humor.

Having said that, I did think your response was a bit too hardcore for a couple of reasons 1) You started the thread; 2) You put TMP as an option. 3) Based on 1 and 2, you're inviting people to vote for it. 4) You quickly turn around and responded with that kind of remark after someone voted for it. You would think this was an invitation on your part to DISCUSS, but instead you took an humorous tone with aggressive intent.

It kinda feels like a set up.

It might've helped if you discussed why you felt so strongly against TMP than to rant.

I myself love TMP, though I do understand the criticisms.

Yeah, it didn't come across as a joke at all. When in doubt, add an emoticon to take the curse off it.

You are a truly terrible person.

Agreed. He should've said phasered into oblivion like that scientist in TWOK
