This weekend I was at Farpoint in Baltimore, Maryland. On Sunday, I attended Timothy Zahn's talk, and Zahn fielded a number of questions about his Star Wars and Honorverse work. Toward the end of the session, he was asked about a franchise he would like to write for that he hasn't had the opportunity to.
"Doctor Who," he said. He didn't have to stop to think. And he wasn't just saying that. He was clearly a Whovian; he pulled a sonic screwdriver and "zapped" me Friday night when I asked him to autograph some books for me. (I was wearing a Doctor Who lanyard with a TARDIS dangler, and he was having fun.)
I have to say. Until yesterday afternoon, I never knew I wanted a Timothy Zahn Doctor Who novel. Now I desperately want a Timothy Zahn Doctor Who novel.
This got me to thinking. What other writers would I like to see tackle Doctor Who?
Besides Zahn, I'd love to read a War Doctor/Time War novel written by David Mack (Star Trek: Destiny, Star Trek: Vanguard). Or a Bernard Cornwell Doctor Who novel.
And, I want to watch an episode written by Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies).
So, I want to throw this out to the rest of you. What writers would you like to see write Doctor Who -- television, prose, comics -- that haven't yet written Doctor Who?
