^Well, it's the second appearance of the Richie character, IIRC, so yeah, I think they did mention his university the first time.
Slipped by me in the earlier episode, I guess.
First time poster on this thread. I too, am enjoying Constantine. I think the production values are quite good for the most part too. And I think the guy playing Constantine plays it just right. I have come across John Constantine very very occasionally in my comic reading. So most of this is new. I had watched the Keanu movie and (don't shoot me) I kinda liked it for what it was - but now in my mind, it's horribly confused with Hellboy. I think the actor does a stellar job in showing how cocky, arrogant and charismatic John Constantine can be. Which goes nicely with all the Newcastle folks continuously warning people around Constantine to stay away from him. Don't know how close it is to the original character in comics but for the TV show's alternate universe I quite enjoyed it. Chas is the weak spot for me. It took several episodes for them to explain Chas - not sure how many lives he's used up, but what will happen if he uses all of them up? And the actor isn't too great (for me). I completely missed that the character of the private detective in New Orleans was The Spectre. I have been catching up on the DVRed episodes and now I'm all caught up and overall I like this hugely. I know other people on this thread have mentioned Supernatural (I tried watching it in season 13 or whatever - last year and I got bored crazy by it's storylines). Grimm I watched a few episodes last year and I remember liking it more. Constantine, I'm liking more than the other two. (Just saying diff'rent strokes and all that).
One question that I had about the recent epi - was why it had to be Richie who has to show Shaw's character the true power of "playing" God in that dimension. It could have been Constantine too, right? (Assuming that the students, (tho' the TA tries) wouldn't have the necessary knowledge/belief to make it happen).
I also am confused about Felix Faust - I was confusing him with Eclipso (and his diamond) when they introduced the character. Think he was the big-bad in some JLA story that I read (or was it a Teen Titans story). I'll have to go and try to read up on Felix Faust... Eclipso, I still remember, so it will be good to see how they do it.
I have a question about the "Brujeria" - is this having any kind of comics-based history or is it a TV-show invention?
Will be nice to see Harold Perrineau get to do more in the next ep.

Mostly a good episode. They managed to find a way to include Eclipso's black diamond in the story without throwing in an actual supervillain.
But it was really inappropriate to include the sex scene between Manny and the nurse who thought he was the person whose body he was inhabiting. Both of their consent was violated by that, since she didn't know who he really was and he didn't want it but was unable to resist. Manny did feel guilty about it afterward, but John just laughed it off as harmless, and that was wrong. And it tainted Manny as a character. He's supposed to be good and angelic, so he should've been able to find a sensitive way to deflect her advances for her own sake. Granted, this is supposed to be a rather dark and cynical show, but they played it as a joke, as something harmless, rather than as a hurtful consequence of John's dirty trick on Manny.
I wonder where the tumor thing with Zed is going. Having someone's visionary powers be the result of a brain tumor is reminiscent of Cassandra on The Librarians. I don't know whether it's something that happened to the comics' version of Zed, since I've been trying not to spoil myself.
Next week is the season finale already? I wasn't expecting that so soon.

I thought this was another good one. Getting to see Manny in human form was fun, although I do agree the sex scene was unnecessary. It will be interesting to see what they do with Zed and her brain tumor. It actually reminded me of Eli Stone more than The Librarians.

I'm embarrassed that I didn't see it. John was talking about the shards of the black diamond, and then the doctor talked about having shrapnel in his chest. I should've made the connection. But I was too busy joking to myself about whether the doctor was Iron Man.
Yeah, the shrapnel thing just passed by so quick that I didn't think much about it at first, but then after they reveal there were pieces of the black diamond in the shrapnel it seemed pretty obvious.
I was also kind of shocked that they basically killed the doctor at the end, I expected them to find some way to either remove or at least counter the shards. Although he did get pulled up to heaven, so I guess it probably wasn't all bad.

As John noted on the show a few episodes back( I think with the Angel's feather/snake handler church episode) even Lucifer was once an angel.
This show is really, really coming alive the last 4/5 episodes. It would please me greatly if NBC realizes what could be now that the producers gave them their initial bottle episodes to get into the meat of the direction they wanted to go all along and how much better it is for that.
There are rumors that NBC is thinking of moving the show to Syfy (which they own), where the ratings bar would be lower and it would be easier to succeed. If they did, the rumor says, it might be granted more creative freedom and become more like the comics, including a title change to Hellblazer, albeit with the same cast and crew.

Though it's just something NBC execs are rumored to be considering as a possibility, and there's no confirmation of even that much, so don't get your hopes up just yet. But it would be an interesting route to take if they did this.

It's a continuation but the name change makes me think episodes would be S1x1 and not S2x1

Why do you say that?
Well, they could hyphenate it: Constantine: Hellblazer, or some such. That way, viewers who watched it w/o being aware of the comics would be still be able to find it.
