Re-doing Enterprise

...
I notice there is no similar reaction to DS9's Kira, who had basically the same outfit but with smaller boobs.
If she was flat-chested she could go topless without drawing attention. That's the ticket, the more their breasts look like a guy's the more it is ok to wear tight shirts...

Funny you should mention this, I just watched an episode of DS9 today and thought hey, there's the damn unitard again! Oh, yeah, hers has a belt, though, which apparently makes it a more serious outfit. Why the skintight unitard at all, that's my question. Why not just a uniform? A regular ol' uniform. Why, writers, why?

I seem to recall that Kira's unitard was originally a two-piece, albeit a snug fitting one. At some point this was changed and she started started strutting around with heels and a spray-on suit

They couldn't decide if ENT was supposed to be an alternate timeline or not. I recall Berman or Braga suggesting as much early on, then when S3 came along they seemingly made it explicit - but then season 4 tied directly into so many TOS/TNG episodes that the intent has to be that they're in the same continuity.

The way I reconcile it is to say that history was changed during ENT, but that those changes led to the TOS/TNG future and not away from it.
I recall a short story, featuring Picard and Daniels, that revealed that the "Prime" timeline was not meant to be. The "Prime" time line was an anomaly, not the proper timeline at all.

Imagine a rewrite, an arc, in which the Temporal Cold War interacts with human arrogance/stupidity and the butterly effect. The consequence? War with the Romulans. This would be a tragedy comparable to "Yesterdays Enterprise". A nasty, bloody war, and the only hope for survival is an alliance of Vulcans, humans, Tellerites, and Andorians.

I can imagine the series ending with an attack, a Pearl Harbor moment.

I think Storm Front Part 2 ends with them preventing the TCW from occurring in the first place, which in a way justifies season 4's new emphasis on setting up TOS continuity.

The TCW was a monumental waste of time (no pun intended), they should never have invented it in the first place.

You said it! I still can't wrote figure out where they thought it was going to go. I mean, other than space Nazis, of course.

You mean ALIEN Space Nazis ... from the FUTURRRRE!!!!
:guffaw:

But with regard to the proper, "Prime" timeline, we have seen on Star Trek numerous times just how dependant the history of the Federation is on closed loop paradoxes and other time travel shenanigans: A Federation without time travel tampering in its past just wouldn't exist.

The question is: Has our time already been tampered with and if so, how oftent?

We need to find that mine under San Francisco and see if there's an android head there.

Who like to party like it's 1939. Apparently.

Ugh, such a cringeworthy moment in the history of Trek. Yeah, I'd leave that storyline out. Maybe I'd have to be thrown back into the past and discourage a young, aspiring television writer from pursuing a career in sci-fi to do it, but I'd be willing to try.

What's with ST and Nazis, anyway?

Sci-fi and Nazis have a long history together in general. Well, since 1945 anyway.

Wonder Woman in the later 1970s was constantly bumping into them, I think they even cloned Hitler in one episode!

As per the discussion of the Temporal Cold War, I skipped nearly every one of those episodes after a friend suggested it. I'd also seen a few of the earlier ones and decided that story arc wasn't for me. I'm sure I missed quite a bit, but I think it was worth it. Enterprise seems pretty awesome without it.

Skipping TCW episodes seems like overkill to me. The episodes themselves weren't bad, it's just that the arc didn't go anywhere (though it provided the Xindi arc and was wrapped up in Storm Front).

And if you skip every episode containing Suliban, Daniels, Tholians, Xindi or time travel, that doesn't leave a lot to watch ;)

Well, I did watch the Xindi ones. My plan is to watch the rest after I finish the entire series. I don't know what it is but I can't get into Star Trek's time travel episodes - same with the mirror universe ones. I always watch entire series then go back to those ones. I know a lot of people would look at that as some form of heresy, and even my husband is like, "wtf?! They're great!" but I just can't deal with it. I guess part of it is because I'm so used to how time travel works in Doctor Who so when I see it in other shows, I'm usually not impressed. I do eventually watch those episodes though! Maybe it's just another weird form of neurosis I suffer from - albeit, oddly specific. :P
