Marvel Studios may be planning more MCU for the small screen

Given the nature of how Netflix debuts their shows, I really don't think an "episode by episode" discussion is possible without doing multiple threads, which seems a little unnecessary.

I hate to be a negative nelly but that looks cheap to me. Not just low budget but like bad DTV cheese. Hopefully the series as a whole will be better. Hell, I enjoyed Blade the Series which had a similar vibe.

Great teaser. Between the fifth season of Game of Thrones and this, April is going to be a great month for television.

Looks good, I noticed that it seems a little bloodier than the rest of the MCU. (Which is fine, that's what we were expecting/hoping for with Netflix as opposed to ABC or whatever.)

Here's my question: how do we discuss the show on this board?

Does someone start up a thread on April 9/10 and allow full spoilers for all 13 episodes right from post #1? Is there a better way to do it? Are there any other viable options?

I would enjoy having an episode-by-episode discussion, like we see for most "regular" shows on this board. Is it possible to do that on this board?

They just started a full season discussion thread for 'House of Cards' when a new season came out for that show. Sure it doesn't allow an episode by episode discussion, but it does allow for a full discussion about the show after they see it. And most people here will probably binge watch it anyways so they'll be caught up by the time they decide to enter the thread anyways.

That has to be the way to do it. I don't think we can have 13 threads to discuss each. The standard way for Netflix is one thread, enter at your own risk. I can't think of any better way to do it except maybe a grace period where you use spoiler code, but that's pushing it.

Anyway, I like the trailer. It'll be dark, it'll be a crime drama. Daredevil will push the line of what a superhero should do, but hopefully won't cross it. We'll have to see. It seems more Brian Michael Bendis than anyone else, but I like Bendis (I'd argue Frank Miller's original run was nowhere near as dark, but I also recognize that was the 1980s).

I think a single thread for the show once it hits Netflix for discussion is fine. It should then be treated like a movie thread where SPOILERS are noted in the title. Should a poster enter without seeing any/all of the show there should be no complaining about why 'X' isn't in spoiler code.

I'd wager every poster who knows about the show knows how and by whom it's distributed. Watch it accordingly or don't enter the thread. If you do enter the thread you fully understand what will transpire.

I like the sound of that. Really, who can legitimately complain if the thread title says SPOILERS?

BTW, does anyone know how long will these shows be available? I know almost nothing about Netflix, so I understand it will be out in April and all of it, but will there be an ending date when it's not available anymore?

For example, if I don't decide to start Netflix for a month or year or so, I'm very cheap, will it still be there next year?

Thanks

Generally, shows continue to stream on Netflix until their contracts expire, and those contracts can be renewed. But since Netflix is actually co-producing these shows, I expect them to be there indefinitely. They've only been making original shows since 2012, but I just checked, and the oldest two (Lilyhammer and House of Cards) are still available, so I assume the rest are.

I was foolish enough to ask "Dare we expect DVD sets?" and then checked for listings of such for House of Cards. Guessing that it's safe to expect such for these series too.

I believe both shows are still doing new seasons, I'm not sure what the case would be for a show that doesn't do more than a single season.

I thought the trailer looked pretty great. This is just the teaser though, so we didn't any real good looks at anything, but I like the feel. Netflix tends to do two or three trailers for their original series, so we should get at least one more, which will hopefully be more detailed.

Netflix streams far more old, cancelled shows than it does current, Netflix-original shows. They stay on as long as they have a contract.

Yeah, it was brought up recently in the Dr. Who forum that Netflix deal with BBC expired on Feb 1 and that they would be dropping the show unless a new deal was struck. Lo and behold, Febuary 1 rolled around and lo and behold, Dr. Who is still available, so obviously the contract was extended.

Yes, all series produced for pay tv outlets-cable based or streaming), are released on disc several months afterwards by the studio that produces them. :)

Yes, it was renewed not long before the end of January. And I'm glad it was, since I did a binge-rewatch last month, trying to get through the whole series before it expired, but I decided to throw in Torchwood and (via Hulu Plus) The Sarah Jane Adventures as well, so I fell behind and wouldn't have made it in time if they hadn't renewed it. I could've watched the rest of DW on Hulu, but then it would've been with commercials. (Neither service has season 8 yet, but BBC On Demand has it, so I was able to binge-watch the whole revival series to date.)

Essentially, the Purple Man enslaved her for 8 months, forcing her to do horrible and demeaning acts. While she tells Luke Cage that he never raped her, he forced her to watch as he raped dozens of girls over the course of that 8 months.
