Creators of A.I. - 'God' Complex or Casting Convenience?

Please, go on!

In that comparison, I would think of Daystrom as Cain...M-5 would be Abel, in the way I understand the parable.

M-5 was Daystrom's son in some respects. Daystrom seemed a bit paternal and protective when it started malfunctioning.

That was the essence of my initial comparison of Daystrom-->God and M5-->Adam. And the topic of the OP in a distinctive sense.

I was playing along to see if you had more thoughts on your comparison.

Please excuse my Catholic upbringing, that's what I got. I bet other major religions have similar themes with different names.

The one AI creator who avoided this, really, was Data himself, when he created Lal. He wanted a child, but he let his child choose her own sex and appearance.

So Data wanted Lal to be everything he himself never could? Classic parental egotism there, I'd say... "I have not yet mastered freedom, so it is the task of my offspring - umm, seems it's my daughter now - to do that. "
