So this means removing parts of the picture, right?
Of the top or bottom.
(and I should have just said 6:4 to 16:9)
I am sure the damage could be minimal but I still prefer a complete image, if possible.

^Then it's best to keep it in its original format.
I am sure it will be very good because it will be made out of love.^Then it's best to keep it in its original format.
C'mon people! What harm can it do? Just a testI was trying to make something new and refreshing, not just re-arrange footage (even tough this already is not all that easy)

I don't think anyone is telling you not to do it. But you asked for opinions, so...you're getting 'em for better or worse.^Then it's best to keep it in its original format.

At the end of the day you'll go with whichever approach appeals to you and others will just have to live with it.![]()
So, it would appear as we will have to wait a little more to get DS9 on Blu-ray, so, i though about making something new myself. I was thinking about re-edit the occupation arc in one 2 or more hours movie, in widescreen and with a little touch on the color correction.
So... you people think it could worth the try?![]()

Making a good 16x9 version is a lot more work than "just zooming it" though. You have to re-frame every shot for best results.
Even tough there's lost of image, it doesn't look THAT bad here:
Not to me, anyway....[yt]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tlM5XOFTVw[/yt]![]()

Agreed, the repositioning of each scene is also going to be more trouble than it's worth...

This scene looks good but during the space battle scenes you might have to choose between a ship blowing up at the top of the screen or a ship attacking at the bottom.
If your purpose is to make people happy, then it's probably best to leave it at the original resolution. You'll only get people nitpicking your choice of edits if you do that.
If you take your time and do widescreen, some people will appreciate it while others will hate it just because you're going against the original intent, and still others will critique your choice of composition for each shot. That's in addition to the criticism of your choice of edits.
So it really all depends on your goal with this. My vote is to do what you think looks good and what makes you happy. This is a fan edit after all. Just go for it!![]()
