I decided to switch up and take a Pastels class instead of watercolor. While I dabbled a little in watercolor before taking the classes, I've never done pastels before. So here is my first attempt at a pastel drawing, I call it Orange & Lemon.

Cool. I like the shadowing underneath the fruit and the light reflecting off them.

Thanks, some of the shadowing is deliberate and some is happy accidents by blending. I don't think its too bad for very time playing with Pastels. Looking forward to next weeks class.

Like the late, great Bob Ross said: in art there are no mistakes, only happy accidents. Make it all work for you and you can't go wrong. Good luck at the next class!

Here is latest Pastel, an Apple & Teapot. I didn't really get to finish it, needs more highlights and shadows. I could finish it in next weeks class but I'm very unmotivated with this piece. After starting, I wondered around the class and everyone else chose to do thiers much closer to the subject, mine is basically the distance to where the still life was and its very boring.

Awesome Roshi, I especially like the tree. Was that pen & watercolor or just watercolor?

Latest pastel, from a picture I took at the end of the summer. It's my drive home from my sons school. This is the corner of Rt. 92 and Woodchuck Lane.

I sometimes doodle on my students assignments:

In this case I'M the student and I do that on my tests! Some teachers laugh and look at my drawings before even correcting the test. Others just say that it is childish behavior. I keep doing them anyway.
