Gotham - Season 1

It makes sense why FOX is airing Gotham and not the CW considering most DC shows are aired on the CW.

Actually we've currently got two on the CW (three once iZombie premieres), one on FOX, and one on NBC (Constantine), with pilot orders for a Supergirl series from CBS and a Titans series from TNT. DC Entertainment is casting a wide net.

When he paused, ever so slightly on the ELECTRO part...c'mon, how is it NOT a subtle shout out?

Maybe because it's a very common word? Heck, Max Dillon wasn't even the first comic-book character to be named Electro. He wasn't even the first villain created by Stan Lee to use that name. It's also the name of a character from Transformers, a genre of music, and just a general prefix for things that are electrical. It's way too generic to prove anything. I mean, if you heard someone use the word "thing" in a sentence, would you assume it had to be a Fantastic Four nod?

There's also the fact that the general public's primary exposure to Electro/Max Dillon is a movie that's generally regarded as a critical failure. Heck, I thought a lot of ASM2 was well-done but that they totally botched Electro. So why would the makers of Gotham want to remind people of that?

And ELECTRO-cutioner --nice shout out

It's not a shout-out to Marvel's Electro. The Electrocutioner is an existing DC character created in 1981 by Marv Wolfman and Michael Fleisher. And of course the word "electrocute" predates the Marvel era by generations; it's been around since about 1889 as a combination of "electric" and "execute," coined to refer to the brand-new invention of the electric chair. (I never realized before that it was invented specifically for that. I guess its extension to refer to accidental fatal shocks came later.)

When he paused, ever so slightly on the ELECTRO part...c'mon, how is it NOT a subtle shout out? It's not like the shout outs on the Flash...but enough to make me smile.
You're seriously grasping.

More importantly, why would a DC franchise want to give a "shout out" to a Marvel franchise?

I don't see how a straight adaptation of the idiot Electro from the comics would work any better.

Um, no.

The last line was something like "there had been a massive shoot out at Fish Mooney's place".

Fish is free, dead or recaptured, but what's the point of talking about a massive shoot out if the status quo remains unchanged, why kill her off, and why not give the girl a wicked cool death scene?

That's 2 episodes with no Bruce.

Do we know why?

Weren't you the one talking about child labor laws earlier? They gave us a Bruce heavy episode. That's it. Can't use the kids anymore for a while now. Dang labor laws.

I did consider that.

But surely Fish would have heard that ruckus if it was loud enough to be reported to the police, and therefore not walked into the lion's mouth?

More likely Fish escaped the shootout or was removed prior to the shooting. After all, Don Falcone said to say goodbye to Fish because she was leaving soon.

I think Fish was taken for a ride and Falcone's loyalists killed the rest of her crew.

Sports. The nemesis of TV series.
Trying to watch CSI this season (10PM Sunday) has been nearly impossible.

Of course, American Idol also only exists to screw up Fox's genre TV schedule.

Remember Cold Case? I actually gave up on that show simply because Sunday afternoon football meant you never knew exactly when it was going to start--or even if it was going to be shown at all. I liked the show, but, after awhile, it just got to be too much of a hassle.

It's a shame that pre hiatus, Gotham seemed to get get going and now we're kind of back to mediocrity.n I loved the stuff with the Mob (Falcone is a great character by the way) but the stuff with the Electrocutioner felt anti climatic. Hopefully we haven't seen the last of him.

The rest of her crew were already dead, unless Falcone was lying?

Hang on?

If Butch is the Joker, it's possible he could have killed four guys bare handed, and then took the rest out with machine guns... Which would be your massive gun fight?

A series of executions, is forensically very different from 30 guys & dolls letting lose on another 30 guys & dolls who are letting lose right back.

Some nerd in a comic store assured me once that the reason a pencil thin comedian can fight a psychopath built like a brick shit house squeezed into a bodysock twice a week is because all his nerve ending had been cauterized and he cannot feel pain. Of course another equally valid argument is that he gets off on being pummelled, which might be why he always loses?

So even if Butch is going to be the Joker one day, what ever the chemical dunk tank does to him during his transition physically and mentally, it means that even as a giant mob enforcer already responsible for hundreds of murders, he is still not as physically menacing or indomitable as the Joker.

I was disappointed when they gave him the comic Electrocutioner's real name...so much for the Hugo Strange theory....

CBS is doing exactly the same thing with CSI this year. It's supposed to be on at 10, but half the time it's on at 10:30 or skipped altogether.

The ending reminded me of the Futurama episode where Leela becomes a witch...

"Oh, who would have thought a small amount of liquid would ever fall on me?"

Don't know if it's been talked about..but have Nygma & Copplepot met? Just wondering how Nygma will goto the "dark side"? A slow slide...where he discovers evidence of Copplepot's crime...but bargains it as away to learn the ways of crime.

Also- any NON Batman references in Gotham?

It's the girl.

Penguin is going to kill/date her and that will send Nygma over the edge.

The Riddler is not a psychopath, insanity has nothing to do with becoming a master thief.

Compulsively leaving clues (riddles) however is a sign of insanity.

It's possible that Nigma is a master thief already who has not snapped yet and does not leave clues (riddles) so has not been caught or identified.

The Girl dies, so he loses all sense of right and wrong, so turns to crime.

The Girl runs off with Cobblepot, so he tries to design his own super criminal personality that will act as cat nip for the girl of his dreams.

Horrific, or humourous, she is the trigger.

Women are usually minding their own business content and happy when some idiot moves heaven and earth to impress them. I'm not sure about you but comparing love to an earthquake does not sound like the feelings attached a healthy psyche.

Meanwhile...

That name can't be real! Even if her parents were insane, what are the odds that she would have kept it, or advertised that... It's possible that she is already some Christmas themed super villainess planted in the police department to screw over Gotham?

No, I totally see Enigma trying to move in on her. That part I agree with you. I just don't see her potentially gruesome death spurring him on to becoming a villain.
