StarTrek.com Reveals Full 2015 Star Trek Book Schedule

I remember enjoying "Troublesome Minds". Even my sieve memory retained a lot of it, which means the story made a lasting impression on me. But I'll certainly re-read it, especially since it's my "re-read old books" year ;)

Y'all are too kind. :-) And really, I didn't take offense at the "meh" comment. These things are subjective and I know not everyone will like my style or what I like to write. It's cool. :-)

I've been reading exclusive ebooks for a couple of years now. Its much easier to adjust the font size on my Kindle than figure out where I left my reading glasses (or when they break like Kirk's in Wrath of Khan!)

A few stray (highly speculative) thoughts on the upcoming Peter David NF e-Books...

Remember that PAD books have always been good for Pocket's publicity purposes. He's widely respected in comic book circles as well as Trek circles and his Trek books get good comic press attention. Usually.

The EXcalibur trilogy (controversially) ended in a first-edition hardcover, which, it was said at the time, is "like giving an author a raise", since he receives a higher percentage on hardcovers than on MMPBs. (In fact, at the time, we didn't even know that there would be a regular MMPB edition of that instalment, but it gave PAD two bites at the cherry when it did go to MM a year later.)

A NF first-edition hardcover ("Stone and Anvil") trialed a CD of eBooks as a bonus enclosure; the first printing sold out before books arrived in stores!

Next, NF switched to first-release hardcovers, followed by a MMPB release. When Pocket Books seemingly dropped much of their hardcover line, NF went to first-release in trade, again followed by a MMPB release. Again, two bites at the cherry. Then we had that weird period where PAD had no NF contract, the books were supposely still popular, but he wasn't being asked for any more.

So now that people have speculated that NF doesn't sell well enough in trade PB to give PAD that higher $$$ rate, now we hear that his next trilogy will be eNovellas. Good for raising the profile of the revived eBook program, and (perhaps) a second bite of the cherry when the eBooks get a trade PB(?) release from Gallery Books?

^Hopefully it skips the TPB re-release and goes right to the MMPB re-release so it matches the rest of the books on my shelves...

This schedule goes by advertised month, but I wonder if the novel that will presumably be released on the last Tuesday of December 2015 (and therefore advertised for January 2016) will be James Swallow's rumored TOS novel, David R. George III's Sacraments of Fire sequel, Jeffrey Lang's next Data novel, or Jeffrey Lang's pitched DS9 novel? Or maybe.....Section 31: Control? Is that too much to hope?

I stand corrected. The novel to be released at the end of December 2015 will be Deep Space Nine - Ascendance.

Has this been confirmed? Where did you see this? Is it a DRG3 book? It sounds like a DRG3 book...

Whoa, a Pike-era novel by Greg Cox? A movie-era novella by Greg Cox? A DS9 novel by Jeffrey Lang? More eNovellas for this year?

That article made me deliriously happy.

Thank you for the link, Thrawn!

Ah, the Pike thing has been revealed? Good to know.

I've been keeping mum about that to avoid stealing Pocket's thunder.

I'm pretty pumped about the diversity of novels and novellas coming out this year. I'm really looking forward to more DS9 and Titan especially.

It is nice to see the return of DS9 to the forefront. Rereading the relaunch for Literary Treks is reminding me just how nice it was to have so much focus on the station and it's crew.

I'm so glad we're getting ds9 novels under it's own title again this year. Margaret Clark also said she bought a ds9 novel from Jeffery Lang.
