StarTrek.com Reveals Full 2015 Star Trek Book Schedule

As much as I hate to interrupt this engaging debate on e-books vs. print, StarTrek.com has just posted the cover for Uncertain Logic, the next Rise of the Federation book. Here.

Great cover and a very interesting write-up. Sounds like Christopher has another winner on his hands :techman:

Good looking covers lately; that's solid too.

Description also sounds interesting. Cool.

Gr:bolian:eat cover art it's long overdue to have a book explore the Vulcans in depth in the Enterprise. era. I've been wanting a story seeing T'Pol returning to Vulcan after the Romulan wars ended.

Pretty good lineup. I still haven't gotten into the TOS novels, but I did read Troublesome Minds when it came out and I did really enjoy it.

That is a really interesting cover. Glad to be exploring Vulcans in-depth again!

I agree. I like that the Rise of the Federation covers haven't been uniform, offering some variety.

Nothing much to say here.

*sniffle*

:-/

Pay no mind to the Nasat, Mr. Galanter. I know many of us here are looking forward to a new Trek novel by you.

Troublesome Minds was a great stand-alone story and it's always my first recommendation whenever anyone asks for suggestions on good TOS books to read.

Any details you can offer on this new novel?

Actually, I agree. :) It was rather good; my comment was due to the fact that TOS stand-alones are the only "optionals" rather than "must-haves" on my list, and having already made that point in the post, I was left with...well, nothing to say.

I was just being silly. It wasn't a genuine sniffle. :-)

Thanks for the kind words on Troublesome Minds. Crisis of Consciousness, I hope, will be as compelling. It's another highly Spock-centric novel, I think, as I have been trying to pick apart what motivates certain actions Spock ends up taking.

I hope you enjoy it, should you give it a try. :-)

This sounds really good and will be my first book by you. Looking forward to reading it and discussing it on Literary Treks.

Mr. Galanter I really like your novel troublesome minds. I'm so glad you're going to do another novel that features Spock and what motivates his decisions in your upcoming novel.:techman:

If the NF novellas really are one novel split into three... why couldn't they just release it as one novel?

As I said, there are only a dozen slots per year for mass-market paperback novels. Maybe those slots were already filled. The e-novellas provide an outlet for additional Trek fiction, and that seems like a good thing to me.

My apologies, I wasn't entirely clear. I actually meant, rather than splitting it up, why couldn't they release it as a single eBook exclusive novel? That is, one EPUB file (or whatever your format of choice) at a higher price point, rather than three EPUBs at a lower price point each. It's the same content, in the same eBook only format, just novel-length.

Of course, I'm assuming here that since it is still eBook exclusive, that it wouldn't take one of the twelve MMPB slots. Or are you saying that novel-length releases have to take one of those twelve slots, whether or not they are released in hardcopy?

I agree that the e-novellas are great, but since this one seems to have been originally intended to a single novel-length story, why not just release it like that? I'll still get it either way; I was just curious as to the reasons behind splitting it.
I've noticed that pretty much all of the series I follow that do e-exclusives (Trek, Star Wars, Kate Daniels, The Mortal Instruments, and The Iron Druid Chronicles) the e-books are always either novellas or short stories. It just seems to be the way most publishers do things. I think they just use the e-exclusives for side stories, and save all of the big novel length stories for the paperbacks.

Very well said and I agree 100%. :techman:

I am chiefly an e-book person now. I have an older Kindle that I use frequently, but I've been reading even more often on my phone now, which isn't as hard as I thought. In particular, I prefer to read novels as e-books; I can devour them more quickly that way and carry more around with me. (And, in some cases, buy the next one in the series immediately - instant gratification, except for my wallet!)

I'm looking forward to Crisis of Consciousness in particular, because I really enjoyed Troublesome Minds, so maybe that balances out Nasat's "meh" reaction. :)
