Your First or Greatest Cartoon Crush

That's a toughy, since I have a "thing" for the "ink & paint" ladies in general. (I wonder what a apsychologist would have to say about that?)

Just the first? Hmm...Just checking Wikipedia for the broadcast dates, I guess I'll have to say "Spider-Woman" based upon the Marvel Comics character and produced by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises. And I can tell you why. It was due to her "seamless" costume. Most female characters wearing form fitting attire were depicted with lines or "seams" deliniating the hips, usually accompanied with a belt. Jessica Drew's costume didn't have features like that. Instead, it looked almost as though it was just "painted" upon her skin. Okay, to put it crudely, she kinda' looked "nekkid". it didn't "hurt" that the show repeatedly depicted flying sequences with Spider-Woman's bustline plowing into the camera, and then cutting a shot as she flew away, the frame centered on her a$$.

The next year, NBC debuted "Spiderman and his Amazing Friends" which introduced the flame propertied "FireStar" (not to be confused with DC's "StarFire"). She too had a "seamless" leotard, but that series didn't employ such provocative camera angles as did "Spider-Woman".

Anyway, it was at that point I realized cartoon gals could be d*mned sexy, be they human or "other species". If "Toon Town" from 'Roger Rabbit" really existed, I suspect I'd be a "regular" of the "Ink and Paint" Club. I always have an eye open for the newest 'toon "talent".

Er, I think I may have revealed too much.

"This is not the post you're looking for."

Sincerely,

Bill

Wilma Flintstone. Betty's nice, but it'd have to be Wilma.

Of course, she'd never have left Fred and we all knew it:lol:

Mine was Gadget as well, mind you I'm younger than John so I was 5 at the time.

Exactly the same story here.:techman:

I bet a lot of people around our age had a thing for Gadget. Adorable geek girl who could fix just about anything? Hell yes!

Jessica Rabbit.

No picture needed.

Oh my, yes. I remember seeing Jessica Rabbit for the first time and being very confused.

Bugs Bunny in drag...

Actually it was another cartoon rabbit...

Wow, she's cute!

Post? What post? :shifty: ;)

Do Jeannie and Samantha Stephens qualify, since they both open with cartoons? :)

Yes. To me, any animated sequence of any kind qualifies.

Firestar from Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.

I got to meet the voice actress that played her at a comic convention in Ohio years ago and she was very sweet and polite to me. After telling her about my crush on her character, she told me that this was commonly confessed by most of her fans from that show, men and women.

April O'Neil, hands down. Before that I'd struggle. I *might* go with Janine from "The Real Ghostbusters" but I think April was the first one where I was just, like, DAMN!

Hmm, this is a tough one. I guess it might have been Natasha Fatale in 1959, or Betty Rubble in 1960. I tended to have crushes on live-action actresses then, not cartoons. Reruns of old primetime shows like Roy Rogers, Wild Bill Hickok, or Fury were running on Saturday mornings then.

Interesting question; hard to say. I'm sure Gadget fits in there somewhere (like others I was 4-5) and April O'Neal too, but the ones that stick out to me now are

Ivy from "Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego"

and a couple years later

Jessie Bannon from "The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest."

(perhaps relatedly I have an abiding crush on Jennifer Hale's voice)

Is this strictly about animated cartoons? I can't think offhand of any animated crushes, but I had three major comic book crushes back in the 60s.

The biggest, of course, was Crystal, Johnny's girlfriend in Fantastic Four. I loved it when she joined the team while Sue was on maternity leave. She wore the blue uniform with the "4" on her belt, slightly off to the side, to show that she was just that little bit more groovy than the others.

Then there was Supergirl. The blue mini years only. She was sweet and polite and she could crush your planet with her bare hands.

And then there was Leeja, from Magnus, Robot Fighter. That black negligee she used to run around in was just amazing. Gold Key, of all companies, did not subscribe to the Comics Code. :rommie:

Not judging, but I'm afraid appreciating B'Elanna Torres is as out-there as my interests get... :p
