That comment was not warrantedAnd, of course, my days of not taking anything FSM says seriously ended ages ago...
is there anything left of this horse that you have so completely beat to death?
whether it's a puase or not, the bit with Banner driving up lacks energy.

In the first Transformers film.. there are similar pauses, but Bay (yes, Bay) fills even the still moments with a lot of energy, as what happens during the pause after Starscream's attack on the Furby truck.
Even during the pause, the camera is always moving, and the sense of dread and momentum doesn't actually stop.
This is not the exact moment I was referring to, but this scene starts with a pause in the battle, but the camera is moving, the characters are busy, and the tension isn't broken.

Using Michael Bay as an example of how movies should be made?
You've just made the weakest argument in the history of TBBS.
It's literally impossible to take you seriously.
Kids these days.
I agree. They call it the Marvel Cinematic Universe but there is nothing particularly cinematic about it. There's little artistry to the the shots and compositions.

It clearly fits under the first definition and the second one is arguably per se true when the first definition is met.
I'm probably older than you think.Kids these days
Take "great" Winter Soldier.. which admittedly seems to be filmed with some cool handheld shots and actually "directed." They still manage to cop-out to crap I hate. After Cap breaks out of the elevator, Pierce orders the place locked down. But of course, it's Cap, and naturally he finds a motorcycle and escapes.. just as the garage doors shut.. from both above and below him. We don't see how he gets to the bike.. maybe showing him finding the vehicle and starting up amidst lock-down might provide real tension, but no.... and for some reason they had to make this metal door close from below him (the door is obviously CG) and, because the people at Marvel don't know squat about how to make films, we don't see how Cap and his bike get enough air to jump the fake gate.
But the director didn't show him getting on it.. or how he got air to make the jump.. or why a gate that shut from below was necessary and not excessive,
A real filmmaker would have known how to make a tense scene and put tit together...
Back in the dark times before the Special Editions, we all pondered the mystery of what sort of Sith wizardry Vader must have used to magically get from Cloud City back to his Star Destroyer, because we completely lacked the imagination necessary to figure that he just took a shuttle back.

that definition is technically correct, but it's also a doorway into being blissfully obstinate. Paranormal Activity 4 might be considered cinematic because it's a movie.. but that doesn't mean that people having that conversation about what counts as cinematic would necessarily PA4 or even the Love Guru or a hundred other films into such a conversation simply because they are movies. You're splitting hairs in an effort to avoid the true meaning of points I'm making.
Even if I were an adventure seeking looky-loo, I imagine that if a giant armored guy and a giant green monster came hurtling out of the sky to smash into the pavement a few feet from where I was standing, I would...duck or something.I believe the sequence is just as the director intended. Everyone scared shitless has already beat feet the hell out of there leaving the careless, adventure seeking looky-loos to stand gawking at the spectacle.
