A better way to end the series then Endgame

That's kind of more of an in-joke than anything else.

See, the problem with a Gilligan Plot is that...well, it just gets boring after 2 seasons or so.

Farscape dropped the "Lost Ship" thing after S1 and became more about the Wormhole weapon plot and the Peacekeeper/Scarran war.

NuBSG fell apart after 2 seasons and needed literal deus ex machinas to keep going.

LEXX had a different plot per season.

Blakes Seven was only ever intended to be 3 seasons long and barely made it to 4 and ended with everyone dead anyways.

Voyager needed to drop the "Lost Ship" thing after 2 seasons and do something else.

Still, you get what I'm saying. Some plots just can't aren't meant for more than a few seasons.

However they might have changed the ending, I really liked Future Janeway acting with Young Janeway so I would hope they would keep the time travel plot. Makes me wonder how cool a scene in All Good Things where all three Picards run into each other. That part where they saw all three ships was my favorite scene.

Problem is that that can't really happen, as 'Picard Prime (PP)' was shifting between those times and in effect every time taking over the body of the picard native to that time frame.... (if I'm making any sense ? )... so which one would have been the real PP then ? The one of the past, of the present, or of the future ?

(right, now I'm thinking about a certain Christmas carol ).

Yeah.. they'd need some technobabble to explain it. But then they could reveal that the anomaly was caused by three Picards converging instead of three beams.

Endgame deserves some credit for actually having Future Janeway interact with Janeway, instead of just mumbling in a stupor like Picard's double in Time Squared

About a year ago I got angry.

Vaughn Armstrong's presence in the final episode was an Advertisement for Las Vegas The Star Trek experience... A poorly framed advertisement. Did they superliminally advertise the Star Trek Experience during the first run air of Endgame, citing "If you like Korath and want to see more of Korath, then go to Las Vegas and see the Star trek Experience."

In no way did Voyager Endgame make Korath interesting enough that I would pay thousands of dollars to go to Las Vegas and experience the Star trek Experience to see him for another 5 minutes, and by the time I did, the Experience had been closed down... So Berman shit the bed on that one.

Everything Klingon in the final is to support Korath's presence.

Was there an older script where Janeway got the Time Travel device from someone other than the klingons?

I would have creamed myself if she had used the Guardian of Forever.

(Naomi was born on Voyager, Miral too, so the Guardian might have sent her to Voyager, or Kathryn could have used Icheb to get a trip to his homeworld 20 years earlier, and then she could have followed Voyager under cloak until the right moment appeared.)

I'm sounding racist, speciest even, but.. THEKLINGONGSINVENTTIMETRAVEL!?

#### off.

No seriously Berman, #### off.

I would have had Janeway standing in front of a holoboard at Star Fleet Command giving an increasingly convoluted explanation of how it took seven years to travel 70,000 light years - then at the end, one of the admirals would have said "Jean-Luc Picard got to the Edge of the Universe and back in 45 minutes" - then it would have faded to black.

LOL:rofl:

I'm still somewhat annoyed that Janeway was an Admiral in Nemesis, whereas Picard was merely a captain ...even though I can rationalize it in several ways...

Best way to keep the troublemakers out of trouble - promote them out of the way!

Even Kirk, in that ugly being in a box episode got much farther than Janeway ever did, and got back the same day!

It came as a shock to me too the first time I saw that!

Janeway as an Admiral in Nemesis... After getting lost, I guess Starfleet wanted her somewhere they could be 100% certain she'd be.

Even then, there's a panic among the top brass anytime she goes out for coffee.

Maybe Picard took to heart Kirk's advice in Generations: "Don't let them promote you!"
Never understood why that's such an issue. Admirals get to choose their own ship, and can make the Captain stand down, anytime they like. As such, if Picard wants the Enterprise forever - the answer is to put Data in charge. Or rather it would be, if his post-Nemesis resurrection became canon.

That would be one of my explanations as well.

Also, the running gag in Phantasms, when he is invited to the Admiral's Banquet, which he desribes it as "fifty admirals shaking hands, making dull conversation, uninteresting food [and] boring speeches", and that he has run out of excuses after so many years, would suggest that such a desk job is not what would make him happy.

Then again, neither could I picture Janaway in a dull desk job ... (perhaps there are exciting Admiral's assignments as well ? )

They can, but I have the impression it's somewhat irregular, as admirals are only meant to do that for missions of special importance, where it's crucial they are personally there. I had the feeling people frowned upon Kirk for that move, as if the 'excuse' for his desire to command a ship again was not considered a valid reason.

Edit: I just remembered 'all good things', where Riker is Admiral on his chosen ship, so I suppose it is not as irregular as I thought ...

It's been a while since I sat through Endgame, so my memory is a little hazy.

They should've done away with the whole time travel plot, its been overused--especially when Janeway has stated that she hates time travel (in the ep where they first meet Braxton, the name elludes me atm). The main emphasis of why Admiral Janeway does what she does is directed at Seven, with Tuvok (her oldest and closest friend) just tagged on as an after thought, and a throw away line about losing a few other nameless extras.

The Borg should also have been left alone too. They should've found another way home (though with the episode ending as they enter it, so their ultimate fate is a little more uncertain). It should've been a story about how the 'family' pulled together to get themselves home, without anyone else.

Neelix should've been ignored. He got his ending an episode or two earlier, he didn't need any screen time whatsoever, maybe a mention or two but never seen of again. Likewise the Chakotay/Seven thing came out of nowhere and did nothing, so it should've just never happened.

Say what you want about the borg but those superstructures of theirs gave an opportunity for some spectacular explosions. Thanks to them Voyager ended with a bang instead of a whimper...
