Whats your favourite movie?

I recall that some reviewers fixed upon the "Final" in the title and jumped to the conclusion that it was supposed to be a conclusion of sorts.

Nope. The title was specific to the plot and themes of the film. It was never planned as the last film. Never.

I wasn't suggesting that it was supposed to be an ending, but only pointing out that some folks got that idea.

Here's my order. Included is what is clearly my most black sheep opinion in the entire franchise... the fact that I don't think WOK is very good.

TUC = ST09
STID
FC
TSFS
TVH
NEM
TWOK
INS
GEN
TMP
TFF

I would have to say Generations is my favorite. There was this sense of epic when it came to the storyline.

Nothing however, can quite compare to sitting down at the cinema on the first night First Contact was released. It was November 28, 1996 here in Australia.
Every time I watch the battle of 001 (and I've seen it dozens of times) it takes me back to that night. I guess it's where my love for the Akira-class stems from too....

I've just done a rewatch of the films, only this time on a bigger screen (yeah, I'm not tired of saying this yet). :D

Here's the old ranking:

TFF used to be at #1. It was the first Star Trek movie I ever got to watch on VHS (birthday gift from parents back in the early 90s), so it holds a special place in my heart. I guess after a while, I got burned out on it, but having watched it last night on my new big screen TV, I realized just how much I loved it, what it meant to me, and it soared upward again. :D

Nice. I saw TFF on opening night with my dad when I was 13. Went to dinner and then stood in line for the big show! One of my favorite childhood memories of me and my dad hanging out together.

I feel that way about Diamonds are Forever, which was possibly the first Bond movie I ever saw in a theater. Intellectually, I know it's not one of the really good ones, but I sitll have a soft spot for it.

^ I don't know why Diamonds sometimes gets looked down on. Though it does dip a toe into Moore-era sillyness, there's a lot to like about it. I certainly find it more enjoyable than the overrated OHMSS.

But then again, I also think Never Say Never Again is better than Thunderball ;)

I absolutely agree with you there, especially where the villains are concerned. Give me Klaus Maria Brandauer and Barbara Carrera any day. They're much more colorful and memorable than their counterparts in Thunderball. The original Largo has to be one of the most boring Bond villains ever. He has an eye-patch instead of a personality.

And, god, the underwater scuba scenes in Thunderball go on for what feels like forever . . ..

First Contact at it blends its ingredients better than any other Trek movie. We have action, body horror and some humour with Cochrane on the ligher side and we have Picard realizing his mistake and amending it before it is too late as well as well as the very basics of Trek (it is no coincidence that the words Star Trek are uttered for the first and last time on the screen in FC) via Cochrane and the other 21st century people who start to dream about a better future on the graver side.
