Piron and Fermitas aren't bad-sounding. Gautuma is kind of an interesting name too, although it's oddly similar to Gautama, the given name of the Buddha.

I care. It's a bit annoying considering this follows the showrunner (earlier this year) saying that he had plans for a ten-season story arc. Plus, this is a show that I have really enjoyed.

On the other hand, I had given up hope that there would even be an announcement (let along more episodes). The "cancel/renew" news was supposed to come a long, long time ago. In that respect, getting six more episodes is good news.

I'm bummed, I wish it had gotten a full season to wrap it up.

I don't think 6 episodes is enough to wrap up the story lines without rushing it. It'll feel rushed, especially with that ending of the last episode. Seems they were opening up a whole new story line there, now it'll just get pushed out fast to wrap up the main story line.

    I remember nothing.

Everything else I've written in this thread is gobbledegook.

I guess I need to rewatch season 3.

Well, I'd prefer slightly more to wrap it up, but I haven't even seen season 3 yet (Apparently arrives here end of next month)

The people who broadcast your TV to you John, don't like you very much.

I'd even go so far as to suspect that they might hate you.

Pretty much:( The UK have dropped a number of shows I enjoy (that are continuing elsewhere) this year. One of them might find another buyer but I've given up hope on some of the others.

Well, at least this show will have a conclusion. So many other series just get axed.

I have really enjoyed this one and am sorry to see it come to an end.

I'll have to watch season 3 again. I hope they do a marathon before the final six. I have a hard time remembering with all this delay.

Heh, I picked up the season 1 set for £1 a couple of weeks ago - will have to get round to watching it through...

    I bailed mid season two.

It's good that it will get an end though. All shows should be so lucky...

Guess I can now watch the last couple of eps. Wasn't going to bother if there was going to be no resolution.

I lost track of the show half way through S3, but I am glad to hear it's getting a conclusion. Warehouse 13, and Nikita both made 6 episode final seasons work, so I have no doubt Eureka will be able to also. White Collar has gotten the same deal, but it hasn't ended yet, so it's hard to judge how well it's worked for them.

I felt W13 really bungled its final season.

Well, White Collar's second through fourth seasons were all divided into a 9 or 10-episode summer season and a 6 or 7-episode winter season, each with its own distinct arc. So they already have experience doing shorter arcs, including two prior 6-episode "seasons." So this is nothing new for them.

So how many alternate timelines does this show have now, exactly?

    None.

    Well maybe none.

There are former timelines that are no longer accessible, or demolished to make way for new continuity.

    Think of it temporal scabbing.

Layer upon layer like a Sarah Lee pie crust.

The old future they grew up inside is gone, but temporal refugees are fine, even though their past is "gone".

But we have seen refugees from at least 6 timelines that used to be dominant.

Time is still a little unclear in the Continuum universe, but I get the sense that multiple timelines still exist. The exceptions involve situations in which major historical actors leave a timeline (resulting that timeline collapsing in on itself). However, Alec is the only historical actor who has been shown to have that much influence over a timeline's stability.

It's also possible that several semi-stable branches are fighting for dominance but that these branches are all relatively local on the "tree" of time (meaning there are significant similarities in development up through the late 20th century, perhaps). It may be that other branches on the "tree" are uninvolved in this battle due to their "distance" on the tree (in other words, those timelines diverged so long ago as to have little in common with the timelines we're seeing on this show so far).

But surely the mere fact that there *are* now several alternate timelines fighting for dominance, proves that Liber8's original mission - to stop the rise of the 'corporate' future they came from - was a failure?

Meaning: They can't change the past of their own timeline. They can create new ones, but the original timeline they came from, continues unabated. (Rather like the fact that, Abramsverse notwithstanding, the original Star Trek timeline continues with the new Abrams one existing alongside it.)

    Right?

I forgot about that time line that Alec left falling into the sea.

If that's what happened once when a destined future becomes impossible because of subtraction, it doesn't sound good for any other Time line who has persons bailing from it.

Adding new people creates new timelines which is if not a stabilizing element then it's how new universes are born. It's why a future is.
