Season SEVEN OFFICIAL TNG Blu-Ray Discussion Thread

My blu ray for All Good THings has been sitting in the status "Preparing for shipment" for 2 days. Anyone else had this problem? Should I contact Amazon or is this just the back lash from Cyber Monday causing a delay?

It's not out here for another week or two here in England, but I'm looking forward to watching Season 7 over Christmas. I'm happy they've managed to include the "Journey's End" documentary that was on an old VHS release of "All Good Things..." Yeah, a lot of it had been cut up and used for the DVDs. But it'll be nice to relive the first time I saw the finale again.

What shipping method did you select when you bought it? One-day, two-day, standard, etc.?

Here's the first review of S7 that I've seen... only two days after release...

Waited 20 min outside Best Buy for store opening only to find out that their shipment has been delayed and delivery can be anytime in next two weeks. VERY FRUSTRATED!

Some people are reporting that they've gone to Best Buy and haven't found a copy on the shelf and when they get an employee to go check in back the employee returns with 3 or 4 sets. Apparently Best Buy is really screwing this up. I had to order season 7 and All Good Things from Amazon.

Oddly enough, that's exactly what happened to me with the Batman TV series Blu-ray a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the young man "assisting" me yesterday looked up the order in the computer and claimed they had 21 units (!) on order, none of which had been received. (sigh):wtf:
I had the same "hey, there's none set out" experience at my Best Buy...wasn't even a spot for it on the new releases rack. I was able to have a copy of both S7 and AGT pulled for me though.

Whoever runs the planograms for Best Buy needs to have their ass(es) kicked.

In All Good Things, there's a scene where past Picard contacts Riker at Farpoint Station. It's stock footage from The Arsenal of Freedom when you see "Rice" standing behind Riker. Rice has been deleted from the HD version, thankfully.

I was hoping they might do that! Awesome news.

The All Good Things documentary on the standalone was very good I thought, a lot of insight on relief/sadness/other stuff going on for the actors at the end of the series. Michael Dorn is awesome in particular.

Finally started with the episodes and yeah Season 7 didn't get off the to best start. Of the first three episodes, I thought Descent II was the best one, but I know Gambit is coming up and I really like that two parter, one of the more underrated episodes of the series. Liasons is just as annoying as I remembered it (Honestly, I think that episode might be worse than some of the bad episodes from earlier, like Man of the People) and Interface felt just really boring. Still, I know there is a lot to like about Season 7 so I'm looking forward to getting deeper into it. When I get to Masks, I may even have a Masks appreciation thread, since I think that is one of the better episodes of the series (Not the best, just better) and I know that is a minority opinion. :p

It's always interesting what they choose to 'fix' and what they leave alone. Personally, I don't think leaving Rice in the corner of the frame would've bothered me much at all.

I'm happy they did it, but it baffles me when they choose to leave a hilariously obvious wedge of wood under the ops station in a prolonged static shot nearly dead center of the frame in Lower Decks.

Also unintentionally hilarious how the tombstones for McFly and Vader are basically impossible to ignore now in Sub Rosa. Not suggesting they should have retouched these, but again strikingly center frame and impossible not to read in HD.

Still very much enjoying the re-watch, yet saddened it won't be followed up by DS9 Season 1 in a few months.

Yikes, that wedge is a sore thumb in that screenshot. I can't say that I noticed it in my previous viewings of that episode though. It's a shame they didn't clean that one up.

Regarding the tombstones, it seems like that's exactly the type of thing they've cleaned up before (in-joke names and text that is now apparent and jarring to the viewer), but I think it's a fun one and I'm okay with it sticking around.

Maybe the wooden wedge was a cruel and unsubtle reminder to those actors in Lower Decks that the TNG door wasn't being held open for them.

Another extremely minor fix is in the end credits for one of the episodes. Ronald B. Moore was originally credited with a D. rather than B. That's been fixed. I think it was Gambit Part II.

I like the in-jokes to remain intact. Every so often we get to see the duck or the airplanes on the Enterprise diagram. Plus the "Great Bird of Galaxy" is still intact and quite visible, even though it's a couple frames.

If there was a tombstone to fix, it's the one from TOS with "James R. Kirk".

Maybe they figured it wasn't worth the effort when only a handful of people would ever watch the episode? ;)

Could be. Guess I made the mistake of trying to rewatch it after years with fresh eyes, only to have the joke spoil any gothic mood for me within the first few moments. :guffaw:

So I just finished watching Parallels with the audio commentary. I never bought the DVDs so that was new to me. What I found interesting was when Brannon mentioned Datas eye color changing. I never noticed this before. The blue eyes he had at one point were a bit odd to say the least.
