    Thanks guys. :)

Cool idea... I have an unbuilt NX-01 model from polar lights. I could probably build parts that would fit.

    :)

Thanks. :) Yep, I plan to start having some for sale soon. I'm getting ready to add a section for that at my website, and I'm still getting stuff ready for the local Comic-Con in Pensacola... I'm working on getting a booth in Artist alley there.

    Hey guys, I'm back.

Been working on this guy... It's done, except for a little paint touch up, and the gloss coat.

It's my biggest model yet... right at 13 inches.

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks, guys. :)

Got a couple new things today. I've been working on a 3D model of the Discovery, from 2001 for a couple of weeks. I got everything printed out over the weekend, and assembled last night.

This thing came out bigger than I had expected... it's about 30 inches long! It took about 14 hours total print time.

Also, I'm making Christmas ornaments for the upcoming con in Pensacola where I'll have a spot:

I'll take some better pictures tonight... I took these with my phone late last night.

    More later. :)

Looks great! How are you working with overhangs? It doesn't sound like you are using support material, and I've not had great luck with too much of that, esp. things that are at less than about a 30° angle from the platform; I printed a TOS bridge chair to Barbie-size and the verticals came out great, but the underside of the chair body, even though it was an upward arc, got pretty squirrelly.

    Thanks. :)

I'm trying to avoid overhangs as much as possible. A lot of times, it seems easier to cut up an object and print it out in multiple parts, than to try and rely on the support material.

I'm also using the official Makerbot firmware on the Flashforge. I know quite a few people are using Sailfish, but I've decided to keep it simple. :)

I've got lots of updates coming soon... I've been getting ready for a small con here that'll be going on next week. :)

    Hey guys. :)

It's been a busy couple of weeks. We attended the Pensacola Pop Expo, which was a small lead up to Pensacola Comic Con, in March. I've never done anything like that before, but it was a lot of fun! I got to talk to a lot of new people, and got to show off a little bit.

I've got a lot more photos on my new Facebook page, too, and I have new pics of everything on the website too. I borrowed a DSLR camera and got some decent lights set up, so they look a lot better.

Also, I got a couple of orders for models of the Prime Alternative Enterprise. Since I was going to be printing more, I decided to go ahead and update the model with grid lines, and do a few things to make assembly easier.

    Hey guys,

    Just brainstorming a little today.

I'm trying to think of models I can do that either don't have any kind of model available, or something that's not seen very often.

    Any ideas?

I might suggest a Daedalus Class, but since all the existing models are so lacking in detail, it would probably entail you creating one of your amazing updated CGI versions first - gee, that would be too bad; I'd hate to see that happen. ;)

Also, the Baton Rouge Class from the old Spaceflight Chronology has always been very popular here on TBBS (linky.) Like the Daedalus, the available image is somewhat lacking in detail, but it could be an interesting opportunity for you to model, as well, and I know I'd certainly enjoy seeing your take on her. Although, I do seem to recall someone here on the Board doing a model of her not too terribly long ago.

Then there's always the Phase II Enterprise that Shaw is working on .... :D

Just a couple humble suggestions off the top of my head. Whatever you choose, I'm sure it'll be great, and I know we'll all enjoy following your process. Cheers!

This! Though I think Shaw may already be working with someone on a possible model. If I recall correctly.

    Hey Madman,

First of all, I have always been impressed with your work, especially the Abramsverse inspired designs.

I have not looked at Trek models in a while, but I personally would like to see more Abrams models, including the Ptolemy, Saladin and Hermes concepts. It would be fun to be able to assemble a fleet for nuTrek.

Or even the new shuttles from the films.

    Keep up the good work!:techman:

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions. :)

I've been busy designing a few new things, and getting ready for Christmas. :)

First, is this custom Tricorder that I just finished printing today. I was really happy the way the hinge turned out! Sorry about the picture quality, but the big camera wasn't set up tonight:

It's kind of a cross between the Tricorder VII and X, but a little wider. I'm calling it the Engineering Tricorder 9s. :)

I also got my improved Prime Alternative Enterprise assembled. I hope to get it painted this next week, sometime. :)

    More later. :)
