Not likely. Ownership of material was different in the 60's and I believe Harlan Ellison retains some rights to that creation. And I don't think he has warm and fuzzy feelings regarding Trek.

I think Harlan could be persuaded to feel sufficiently warm and fuzzy about Trek if he were to receive adequate compensation.

However, Orci is on record as saying that the Guardian won't be used as a means of time travel or for "fixing" timelines. Whether the Guardian could be used for any other purpose is probably another story.

Between Shatner and Ellison's salary, they'd bankrupt ST3's production budget.

However, Orci is on record as saying that the Guardian won't be used as a means of time travel or for "fixing" timelines. Whether the Guardian could be used for any other purpose is probably another story.

Wasn't Orci on record saying "It's not Khan!"? (until someone told him what a great story it would be if it was).

It's always been about principle for Harlan.

He probably doesn't need the money nor particularly care about it, per se, but he does care that contracts are honored. That's no whim; it's principle.

This would be sort of a retcon, but a possible way of bringing Kirk Prime back would be to simply say that when Picard went into the Nexus and brought Kirk back, Picard actually brought back the "echo" of Kirk's essence in the Nexus, not Kirk himself. Kirk Prime could have actually been rescued, or left the Nexus prior to the events of Generations, which turns out to be the events in Star Trek 13. That might be a little hoaky,but at least it finally puts to bed the Nexus problem, and fixes one of the most unpopular scenes in Star Trek history. Basically, the Kirk we saw die, was just an "echo." Kirk Prime is then free to show up in the alternate timeline.

Kirk accidentally takes Picard from the Nexus to an alternate timeline version of Veridian III where nuKirk, alongside nuMcCoy and nuSpock, is out on a camping trip.

Harlan came back into the fold to do the comics.
Even if it was only to right an old wrong.

He also allowed the Guardian to be used in TAS. Do the right thing by Ellison (whatever that is) and I'm sure he'd be willing to cooperate.
