what's it take to actually get those? Maybe I missed how that's supposed to work, just don't have any. Have a toon at level 60, so gotta be something I'm missing...

Well he need to spend 15 specialization points in one of the specializations to get the ones from those, and another way to get them is to get mastery level 5 on a T6 ship.

I also think you get one from the Delta Quadrant Reputation, but I won't know for sure for another 9 days.

Basically they're passive abilities for your ship.

I don't think you get a starship trait from the delta rep, the final unlock Concussive Tachyon Emission, would be an active reputation skill.

So I made Commander again with my new character, and went for the Akira class escort.....

With my previous character, I Escorted as well, but I thinking about Cruisers now. As Lt.Commander, I had the Cruiser for that level, and didn't really like how slow it turns during combat. Is that going to get a lot worse with Captain and Rear Admiral level Cruisers? I like the Captain Level Cruiser for how nimble it was, but I remember several very ill-timed respawns during my first time playing STO. However, like I stated, the turnrate of the Lt.Commander level Cruiser makes me weary of sticking with them for the next few ships.

In the mean time, last time playing I didn't have the Nimbus missions yet, loving the amount of XP I'm gathering there sofar. :D

The Captain level cruiser (Galaxy) is among the slowest turning ships in the game. The Rear Admiral cruiser is a little better (Sovereign). But at level 50, if you are willing to make a C store purchase, you have a lot of options, from slow turners (Galaxy refits and Odyssey) to relatively nimble (Avenger).

On a similar topic, I've been pretty pleased with getting the Qib levelled up on mastery. The trait (increased turn with cannon volleys) is definitely noticeable.

Levelled up the D'd, too, and am now levelling up an Aelahl for the trait, only to find that I'm really enjoying the ship. Nice design, too.

Thinge is, you can't play cruisers like fighter jets. You play mostly broadsiding tall ships and maneuver accordingly.

At endgame you have so many good gear options to help with turn rate, that even cruisers become easy to handle.

I just upgraded my RCS fleet console and it gives a comfortable +45% turn and that is just a single piece. Add on top of that my armor console which has a secondary turn mod, engines, doffs and traits and flying my Fleet T5-U Sovereign becomes quite enjoyable. :)

Hm..... I realize I really need to read up more about the Fleet stuff.

I had the same experience, though the step from the Cheyenne to the Galaxy is quite extreme. I'm using 2 of the Fleet Mine consoles Timelord Victorious mentioned along with the Tachyokinetic Converter, and the turn rate on my fleet star cruiser (the ship in my avatar) is up from 7 to 22 now, and that's without the cruiser command that increases it even more. So it can be done, but it takes a bit of an investment.

Still, cruisers will never be escorts, if only for the limitation on dual (heavy) cannon use.

What are Fleet Mine consoles?

Same here. If the posts I read on the STO forums are correct, it's not necessarily better than the fleet T5U Intrepid, if memory serves it loses an extra tac console that the T5UF has. The question is if the 5th mastery power is worth it, as least until the tier 6 fleet version comes out.

Truth be told, I'm not sure I like the idea of tier 6 versions of the older ships. It sets a bad precedent, as now everyone will want a tier 6 version of their favorite tier 5 ship...

I wonder how many are going to get the T6 Intrepid...

Not me. It was funny seeing some of the comments on the facebook group yesterday.

Getting very close to the Delta Rising content, as I was half way through Surface Tension (when the game crashed). I know I'll get it finished sometime this weekend, as I've been enjoying the episodes lately that I've been doing.

Patch notes for the update soon.

Personally I wouldn't mind if they discount the T6 if the T5 is already account unlocked.
I would also not be surprised if the T5 get's discontinued except as a character based veteran unlock you can get for the Vice Admiral token.

That ship sailed when they introduced T5 version of the captain ships after the first level cap increase.
