Open plan or seperate rooms

Or am I the only one who thinks that would be awesome?

Totally awesome! :techman:
Yay! Let's get started! :D
With lots of books, you could turn your open plan house into a library.

I recently saw a Library Bookcase Chair on the Etsy site that has built-in bookshelves. It's an armchair, comes in a variety of fabrics, and costs nearly $3000 CDN. If my dad was still well and at home and able to build stuff, I'd get him to make me some (he used to make lots of different kinds of custom furniture, including most of the bookshelves I own).
I never thought I could fall in love with a chair, but I was wrong.

I say we go in on half or we can make one of our own. ;)

Unless you put the chair completely out in the open, one or both of the sides may be unusable. We have a TV stand very similar to this, and the shelves on the sides are nearly worthless because they're blocked by other furniture. The stand having to be in the corner doesn't help, either.

This sounds like an excellent reason why some furniture is most useful when it's not against a wall or even near a wall. ;)

The firmness of the cushions is just right. They give just the right pounce when you push in on them.

Are we going to have to cover them in plastic?
While it's ideal to cover them in plastic, doing so takes away from the sublime contact one feels when easing into them.

My studio apartment is about as open plan as it gets. Here's a very crudely drawn floor plan of our place.

Yes, it quite close quarters even for just two people, but it works for us for now and you can't beat only paying $600 on rent/utilities in the SF Bay Area. That said...I very much look forward to the day we can afford at least a two bedroom.
