Gotham - Season 1

There are some good connections here!

I understand that Selina Kyle also will be going by different names to throw off viewers. Names such as 'Frankie'...'Susie Diamond'...and 'Elvira Hancock.'

The Scarecrow is coming to Gotham.
Apparently he will be a child, and the Scarecrow identity will be passed down to him from his father. I am kind of surprised they are concerned with saving The Scarecrow as a villain for Batman, when they've already included adult versions of a lot of characters who are usually presented as being around the same age as Bruce.

^I'm not sure I'd agree that the characters we've seen on Gotham are usually the same age as Bruce. It's generally assumed that Bruce became Batman in his mid-20s, give or take, and is in his early 30s or thereabouts in the "present day." The Penguin always struck me as being in his 40s or 50s. (Burgess Meredith was 59 when he began playing the role.) The Riddler could anywhere from mid-30s to mid-40s; he's more an intellectual villain than a physical one, usually. (Although Frank Gorshin was only 33 when he debuted as the Riddler, five years younger than Adam West.) Catwoman is around Batman's age or younger, and that fits the show's Selina. And the only other comics villains we've seen so far are Falcone and Maroni, who were introduced as veteran mob bosses when Batman was just starting out. So all the villains so far are in exactly the age range relative to Bruce that I'd expect them to be. Nygma's maybe a bit older than one would expect, something like 15 years Bruce's senior, but that's not unreasonable given his character.

The only characters so far who are older than they "ought" to be are Bullock, Montoya, and Allen, and probably Sarah Essen. Although that will change with the upcoming appearance of
Nicholas D'Agosto as Harvey Dent, who'll be about Gordon's age in the show. Conversely, we'll also get Morena Baccarin playing a considerably younger version of Leslie Thompkins.

But who is Onomatopoeia?!

I know his as a Green Arrow Villain.

When he fights, it looks/sounds like a fight scene from Adam West's Batman.

BIFF!

POW!

BAM!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onomatopoeia_(comics)

Well, he started as a GA villain, but he's been used in Batman comics made by Smith as well.

While on the whole I agree with his idea that the character only works on the page I think it *could* work on the screen if you used someone who was good at imitating sounds. Say, like, Michael Winslow.

Why do I have a feeling the season finale will involve Bruce running away from his parents killer?

The killer will reach Wayne Manor and Bruce will run and fall through the cave entrance

End season

Season 2 would have Bruce scared of the cave and working to conquer his fear

Ok, there it is! There's what I've been waiting for. The episode that shows me why this is a show worth watching. No superfluous case of the week, just sheer plot. What a doozy. Penguin seems to be a master calculator, playing every side against each other. He sees a war coming, but only because he's specifically engineering it.

Well, last week's was pretty good too, but I agree -- the show reached a new level now. The preliminaries are finally over with and things are starting to happen. Even the earlier events were contextualized as part of a bigger master plan by Penguin and Falcone. And best of all, Gordon has finally begun building a core of allies. I was hoping that at least some of the precinct cops would stand with him, and it seemed like Essen almost did. But he did finally get Montoya and Allen on his side, and as I hoped, Bullock came around too, in his own way.

The main problem is that Gordon, Bullock, and Barbara got off too easily, the status quo restored too handily. That's often a problem with serial installments like this. But at least it was justified as a favor to Penguin -- a little weak, but it's better than just Falcone being in an inexplicably generous mood.

The scene of Bruce and Alfred with Gordon was pretty cool too. This show is finally getting really interesting.

Wow, that played like a season finale! Particularly with a shoot out in the GCPD. I must say I was very surprised by the ending twist I really thought Pengy was loyal to Maroni.

Wow. I feel like the writers set me up with all of my doubts and fanboy complaints, and then in one episode brought me to my knees.

Gordon and Cobblepot. Two sides of awesome. I want more.

The characters you listed were the ones I was referring to. I knew Penguin and the mob bosses have always been quite a bit older than Batman.
I have to admit, I was thinking Bruce was a lot younger than he actually is here, so it's not as much time before he Batman as I was originally thinking. I was thinking it was going to be 20 or more years, but I realize now it's actually only about 10 or possibly even less.

I had the same thought about this feeling like a season finale.
It was also the best episode of the show yet.
I'm really glad to see that we finally have Gordon working with Montoya and Allen.
I keep wondering if they're going to introduce Tommy Elliot eventually. He seems like the perfect character for the show, and reading through the stuff about his early years on Wikipedia I can already think of some Gotham style stories they could use him for.
