Hmm, that's a good point. I guess the play would have to be called Twelve Ordinary Tellarites.
Y'know, you guys are being really racist. How many Tellerites have we seen, 3? And one was a mental patient, BTW, he wasn't angry.
They only one I saw that was miffed was Gath, even his assistant seemed like Garth was over doing with with Sarek of Vulcan.

I don't care how non-PC it is, I prefer the original title. Just because something isn't considered PC now doesn't mean it has to be changed to fit current societal views.
Imagine trying to reverse-PC something like "The Vagina Monologues."
But then, "The Penis Monologues" would probably just consist of grunts and whistles and "hey baby," and "hold my beer and watch this."

I don't know what's going on in here in the last couple of days, but so many people are making a hue and cry about racism, sexism, etc. What, did they get the latest memo from the P.C. police or something?
Maybe that's why some are offended by The Next Generations' self-view of 'enlightenment': it challenges their notion that here and now is as good as it gets!

I agree with you, urbandefault: the title is fine, and likely wouldn't have bothered anyone had not some unnamed, un-appointed "select few" not drawn laser-like scrutiny and attention to it in the first place (I don't mean in here, but societally).
I don't think anyone's upset, but I think that some folks have a tough time admitting that when there are new interpretations of old material, things will change. Society changes.
Twelve Angry Men (makes sense in 1957) or Twelve Angry People/Persons/Jurors (makes sense in 2014), what's the difference as long as the core of the story remains intact? Personally, I'd rather that a compelling story evolve with the times than be lost to history.
That's a very valid point, BillJ. Oddly enough, the scenario you describe reminds me a bit of Star Trek VI, in the idea of the older guys facing new times.
Modern juries rarely contain all of one anything, so your mention of an update makes sense.
This sort of thing has been on my mind lately, as someone at my work was fired. He was a guy in his mid 20's. He was rude, had trouble getting along with people, threw a wrench at someone he had a disagreement with, slapped a woman on the butt, and tended to make racist and sexist comments. In short, he was a dirt bag. He reminded me of someone who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks in the 1940's. Not someone who is likely to adapt to any changes.
The best part was everyone's happy reaction when he was gone. It was like in The Wizard of Oz, when the wicked witch dies. I'm surprised someone didn't hand the boss a broom!
I apologize to all you nice folks for contributing to the topical drift. I hope we can get back to the fun stuff soon!
Just a reflection of a male dominated society, I guess.
