Wells comes from a timeline where there is no Captain Cold.
I don't think we have actually received clear indication that he is from the future, yet. All we know is that he can walk and he has a newspaper from the future. If he is HG Wells then he is actually from the past anyway.
Both of them being from the future is way too complicated.Have the two even met yet? Thawne could be from a further future/different timeline than Wells for all we know, or his impact on Barry's life is part of what causes him to become who he is. Plus if Wells was busy taking out every threat to Barry, then there'd be no reason for Barry to be a superhero to begin with.If Wells was willing to kill Stagg to "protect" Barry. Why hasn't he done anything about Eddie? Eddie would be a greater threat, wouldn't he?
Pretty cool new promo. Complete with (spoiler alert) our first look at him running on water.

Nobody's suggesting he's actually H.G. Wells -- just that he picked an alias inspired by Wells's name, as one might expect a time traveler to do (if he were prone to being obvious).

Missed that--I thought people were suggesting he was Wells. But my point remains valid--the whole idea of him being a time traveler himself may just be a red herring.
Did anybody else think Felicity fit in better with this group than on Arrow?

That's why Team Arrow needs her more. She's the one who keeps them from falling into an endless spiral of brooding and angst and humorlessness.
Now that I think of it, they're still being all coy about teasing out Barry's nickname...so when the guy in yellow shows up, they'll probably call him something like "Doctor Whoosh, the Opposite Streak".If they do go with Eddie, I think they'll call him Reverse Flash. He doesn't come off as the professor type.
Unless Eddy identifies himself as the reverse Flash and Barry facepalms: "Oh? You're the reverse me, so I'm... The Flash?"
I had the same thought. The timeline doesn't really make a lot of sense there.I'm very confused about the timing. The episode seems to be saying that Cisco built the freeze gun some time ago, before he knew and trusted Barry, as a defense against Barry's speed if he should turn bad. The guard who stole the gun and delivered it to Snart implied that it had been stolen shortly after the collider accident. But Barry was in a coma for 9 months after the accident, and while the STAR Labs team knew his metabolism was accelerated, they had no idea yet that he had superpowers. And he's only been up and around for a month or so at this point, so when did Cisco have the time to develop and build the freeze gun before he got to know Barry?
Not really. The producers and writers are constantly putting in little Easter Eggs that only the hardcore fans would pick up on. So they are obviously like to put stuff in there for the hardcore fans, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they put something like Thawne's name in there and then didn't do what people expected. They already kind of did that when they introduced Tommy Merlyn before they introduced his father, who was the actual comic book villain Merlyn. So, some of you are suggesting that Edward Thawne -- a name the general viewing audience wouldn't pick up on even if they were familiar with anything about Professor Zoom -- who's swooped in out of nowhere and not only fits the physical profile, but is also moving in Barry's future main squeeze, and oozes creepiness from every orifice is... what? A red herring for fans of the Flash, and *only* the fans of the Flash because no one else would have a clue who he was?
That's kind of delusional.
Or just being really technical. Notice they are saying "Wells" is a new character, they could easily get around that by saying that the fake Wells identity was new, while his real identity is a comic book character. All this talk about the Producer's saying that Wells isn't an existing character... um, they could be LYING, you know. Or at the very least, being misleading...
I had the same thought. Maybe he was so mad at Cisco because in his future never had a Captain Cold, so now things are playing out differently and he'll have harder time protecting Barry.Wells comes from a timeline where there is no Captain Cold.
