The Flash - Season 1

Hmmm, so I wonder if all three actresses will be treated as the same character, or if they'll act like she's never been around until Malese Jow's character comes in.
Jow is only the second actress to play the part in the Arrow/Flash universe.

I think you are right. Which makes my point even stronger. The original actress shot that footage around a year ago for Arrow. Its similar to the recasting of Sara Lance after Arrow's
pilot. A very small part which they probably did not give much concern on casting. Also the original actresses were not contracted for more work and moved on to something else.

I'm late to the party...

The Blue Devil movie marquee is a follow up to the Blue Devil poster on the side of the bus in Arrow season 2.

Barry didn't use a gas mask because he was intentionally bringing gas back to the lab for analysis. I agree they should have thought of using the mask, but then not having it on would have telegraphed his gas capturing technique for the viewers.

He ran holding his breath on muscle glycogen. Pretty much like doing wind sprints.

I don't think Wells is Zoom, and I think he is more interesting for that.

I don't like "Streak" but I think it would have been hilarious if they'd called him "The Blur."

OOOORRRR...they all happen to have the same first name. While Linda might not be super common (as opposed to Julie or Jennifer), Park is a very common Korean last name, like Williams or Jackson or Smith is in America for whites & blacks.

Also, Linda could be one's given name, or the American "nickname" or Middle name with a different Korean "first name".

Ok, I geeked at the ending. Heatwave! The Rogues are assembling! They're just about my favorite bunch of villains in the whole DCU.

^ I was wondering who that was. Thanks.

- Felicity will go on to do great things, says the man who knows the future.

- Wells to Cisco: "Don't you ever do anything like that again." The way he said it and the way it played out suggests that he meant something behind that, but what?

- Two Superman references... The train going through the cornfield followed by Barry saying "Taking the train is still one of the safest ways to travel."

Well I expected Heatwave after the gun reveal but not at the end. Loved this episode, like the fact the Rogues wont all be super powered initially. Snart was very good.

The action scenes on this show are really impressive. I loved the Flash's takedown of the armored-car bandits, and the train rescue was terrific. I love a good mass rescue scene, and this one was quite clever. I was expecting Barry to find some way to save the train before it crashed, but instead he just got everyone out during the crash. Although, really, the instant accelerations he imparted on them should've been just as fatal. He must have some kind of inertial cancellation field around him or something.

And Captain Cold has his parka and goggles. I guess it's a simple enough costume that it's not hard to justify.

Honestly, I think Barry and Felicity should've gotten together. Grant Gustin and Candice Patton don't really have that much chemistry; I can't quite see Barry and Iris being an interesting couple. Of course, Barry and Felicity are on different shows, so it's not gonna happen.

The bit where Thawne stopped Snart from shooting Joe was confusing. To mee it seemed like Eddie shot Snart in the back, but Snart just shrugged it off and walked away. What did I miss?

The Rouges.

Heat-Wave. This week. Hello.

Mirror-Master. The Pilot?

Weather Wizard. The pilot!

Trickster. Technology?

Captain Boomerang. Barely technology. Only a moron would build an exploding boomerang.

Abra Kadabra... Time Traveller from the 64th century.

The Top. Meh.

Golden Glider. Meh. Although, she is Captain Cold's sister.

Pied Piper. Meh. He could go either way.

:)

Any of these could have been given collider based powers instead of using technology, only time will tell.

Oh.

Only a time traveller from the 25th century would not know the name of Han Solo's ship from Star Wars.

Seriously...?? Barry and Felicity have good chemistry. The writers need to recognize this fast.

RAMA

I'm very confused about the timing. The episode seems to be saying that Cisco built the freeze gun some time ago, before he knew and trusted Barry, as a defense against Barry's speed if he should turn bad. The guard who stole the gun and delivered it to Snart implied that it had been stolen shortly after the collider accident. But Barry was in a coma for 9 months after the accident, and while the STAR Labs team knew his metabolism was accelerated, they had no idea yet that he had superpowers. And he's only been up and around for a month or so at this point, so when did Cisco have the time to develop and build the freeze gun before he got to know Barry?

Or just someone who's totally uninterested in SF/fantasy/geek culture. They do exist. There were people during Smallville's run who had no idea that it was a Superman prequel, because they didn't know Superman well enough to remember that he was named Clark Kent. And way back when I went out to Hollywood to pitch for Deep Space Nine, I was surprised to discover that the cousin I was staying with didn't realize the show was associated with Star Trek.

There are probably people out there who think that Han Solo's ship is named Enterprise or Serenity. There are tons of people who can't distinguish between Star Wars and Star Trek. A lot of people have picked up a few basics from pop culture but can't remember what comes from where. (See Monday's Sleepy Hollow. "Superman is... Peter Parker? No, wait, I know this...")

So, some of you are suggesting that Edward Thawne -- a name the general viewing audience wouldn't pick up on even if they were familiar with anything about Professor Zoom -- who's swooped in out of nowhere and not only fits the physical profile, but is also moving in Barry's future main squeeze, and oozes creepiness from every orifice is... what? A red herring for fans of the Flash, and *only* the fans of the Flash because no one else would have a clue who he was?

That's kind of delusional.

Then you have Wells. Not only is his surname Wells, but his first name starts with an H. How much do you wanna bet his middle name starts with a G, too. Sure, it's likely just an alias he came up with to amuse himself, but it's certainly not something that should be overlooked. As it apparently has been.

Sure, he could be Hunter Zolomon, especially with the "he's clearly evil but helping insure that Barry becomes a hero" vibe he has going on, but why confuse the general audience with two Reverse Flashes? Especially since his speech patterns are perfectly fine, and he hasn't demonstrated any superhuman ability to manipulate time (as opposed to relying on technology), which pretty much nixes the Zoom aspect altogether. It makes much more sense for him to be someone else, maybe even someone new.

But trying to say that Thawne is a red-herring? That really is kind of ridiculous.

I don't think he "oozes creepiness". He actually comes off as a pretty nice guy. Doesn't mean I don't think he has the capacity to become Reverse Flash though. Good guys go bad all the time

When was it overlooked? The use of the name has been painfully obvious from the beginning.

The producers have already stated that Wells is not an existing character if I remember right. It was mentioned earlier in this thread.

I was kind of wondering about that myself. It seems a bit muddled.

I also agree with your earlier comments about the rescue and the foiling of the robbery. Both looked amazing and I really like that he didn't find a way to stop the train crash but instead just pulled everyone off it.

So far this show is off to a great start. I look forward to it every week. I hope I can still say that by the end of the season.
