You favorite quote from a real celebrity. Not an fictional charter.

Re: You favorite quote from a real celebrity. Not an fictional charter

I can't think of just one quote, I gotta mention several of them. . .
How could you not mention Yogi Berra?

"It's deja vu all over again."

"It ain't over till it's over."

"Baseball is 90% mental, the other half is physical."

"You can observe a lot by watching."

Re: You favorite quote from a real celebrity. Not an fictional charter

"For the contingent out there who sneer at heroes like Superman and Wonder Woman and Captain America, those icons who still, at their core, represent selfless sacrifice for the greater good, and who justify their contempt by saying, oh, it’s so unrealistic, no one would ever be so noble… grow up. Seriously. Cynicism is not maturity, do not mistake the one for the other. If you truly cannot accept a story where someone does the right thing because it’s the right thing to do, that says far more about who you are than these characters." -- Greg Rucka.

THIS.

So.

Totally.

This.

Re: You favorite quote from a real celebrity. Not an fictional charter

Throughout history
Every mystery
Ever solved has turned out to be
Not Magic.

Does the idea that there might be truth
Frighten you?
Does the idea that one afternoon
On Wiki-fucking-pedia might enlighten you,
Frighten you?
Does the notion that there may not be a supernatural
So blow your hippie noodle
That you would rather just stand in the fog
Of your inability to Google?

‘When Creationists talk about God creating every individual species as a separate act, they always instance hummingbirds, or orchids, sunflowers and beautiful things.

‘But I tend to think instead of a parasitic worm that is boring through the eye of a boy sitting on the bank of a river in West Africa, [a worm] that's going to make him blind.

‘And [I ask them], “Are you telling me that the God you believe in, who you also say is an all- merciful God, who cares for each one of us individually, are you saying that God created this worm that can live in no other way than in an innocent child’s eyeball? Because that doesn’t seem to me to coincide with a God who's full of mercy.”’

- Sir David Attenborough.

"It's total, total childish trash. I'm ashamed of it. I am very bitter about it,I feel betrayed. I feel I've not been told the truth. We were moving to Florida. We were going to present human beings who had a life on land as well as on the boat. We've had one script that has done that. The other shows are Saturday afternoon 4 o'clock junk for children. Just junk - old, tired, time-warp robot crap. It's not real. It's not even good fantasy. I mean, Star Trek does this stuff much better than we can do it. To me the show is now 21 Jump Street meets `Star Dreck.'''

"I think I'm developing an ulcer. I just asked for three Tums from the makeup man."

Roy Scheider regarding Seaquest.
:guffaw: Can't top that.

"Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again." - L. Frank Baum

"A seal made a run at me in Malibu. I thought he was injured, I was going to have a look and call an animal rescue group. As I got close he reared up and I ran away but he chased me. I looked behind me and thought: 'How can an animal with no legs be outrunning me?'. He gained on me but veered off into the water. It makes you realise how puny man is, that he can’t even outrun a thing with no legs." - David Duchovny

"There is no prize at the bottom, only more cardboard. That's all." - Jeremy Irons on Jeremy Irons Cereal

"I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet, strange, I am ungrateful to those teachers." - Khalil Gibran

"What would happen if you melted? You know, you never really hear this talked about much, but spontaneous combustion? It exists!...[people] burn from within...sometimes they'll be in a wooden chair and the chair won't burn, but there'll be nothing left of the person. Except sometimes his teeth. Or the heart. No one speaks about this, but its for real." - Keanu Reeves

"I did not have sex with that woman."

You accidentally neglected to include the person who you were quoting.

Charles Nelson Riley?

Yeah, he's the one. Or was it Bill Clinton? Anyhow, the OP only asked for the quote, not the quotee.

Sounds like a good game, "Who said it?"

It does, indeed! And, I stand erect and corrected!

Re: You favorite quote from a real celebrity. Not an fictional charter

Here's a movie quote that flagrantly breaks the thread rules, but it's so very beautiful and Halloween-appropriate that, just today, I'm going to allow it. It's from a long-forgotten film entitled Stone Cold:

"The Devil was a rebel angel. If you want to fuck with the living, you'll have to learn to fuck with the dead!"
