Once Upon A Time Season 4

There was an interview in the last week or two with Kistsis and Horowitz where they addressed their Frozen character's relationship to the Frozen movie, but I can't find it now. That was where I'm getting the stuff about the future movies vs. OUAT.
It's been pretty clear with all of the other character's that we've gotten so far that they are the seperate characters that we've gotten so far that they aren't the same ones from the movies, and I just really don't see why the Frozen characters would be any different.
I don't expect any theoreitical future Cinderella movies to sudden get rid of the Fairy Godmother and replace her with Rumplestiltskin, or for a future Snow White movie to suddenly use the Snow/Regina backstory. I don' see why Frozen would be any different.

Again, because OUAT's writers said they were, plain as day, in more than one interview. They wanted to portray the characters from the movie. Not similar characters they spun into OUAT characters, but the characters from the movie, as depicted in the movie. Period. It's what they said.

Which is not the same thing as saying the characters will be used that way in any future movies/media. OUAT is a dead end alternate universe for all of these characters.

You're missing the point. If they're being used in this universe the way they were used in the movie-verse, then it's also the way they'll be used in future movie-verse projects. The OUAT writers are borrowing the characters and settings. Anybody who's seen both the movie and this season can tell they pretty much haven't changed anything. It's obvious the changes they've made to the other fairy tale characters, which means the changes they haven't made to the Frozen characters are that much more glaring.

And the argument here is whether or not OUAT's storyline will effect future Frozen projects, not whether the characters themselves will be different, and all I ever said was that they could make everything that happens in OUAT Frozen canon and still not affect future Frozen projects a whit, because any professional writer with half a brain can manage that, but especially if - IF -said writer is working in collaboration the writers he's borrowing characters from. Are they? I DON'T KNOW. That doesn't mean it's impossible. Will they declare the OUAT storyline Frozen canon? I DON'T KNOW! I just said they could without doing any damage to the Frozen universe die-hard fans love. (And I'm a die-hard Frozen fan so I should know that much, right?)

JD keeps harping on the OUAT creators saying the fairy tale characters they use would be different from the depictions we're used to. I get that, but from the time they pulled out their surprise in the S3 finale they stated again and again that that would not be the case with Frozen's characters, and all you have to do is watch the damn show to see that's exactly how they're proceeding. Elsa is Elsa, Anna is Anna, Kristoff is Kristoff, Hans was Hans before EM got him. Hell even Grand Pabbie and "Snowflake" appeared as is. How much more do you have to see before you get that in the case of these particular characters, OUAT's writers are not conducting business as usual?

That's all I'm saying on this. I just want to watch the damn show and see what happens.

All we are saying is don't expect anything new revealed about the Frozen characters on OUAT to be carried over to any other Frozen related stories. Canon is a fickle thing.

I thought the new episode was okay. The Frozen storyline was mainly put on hold this weekend to focus on Rumple and his storyline. Looks like he might be going evil again this season. Imprisoning people just to be all powerful can't be a good thing, no matter how you spin it.

Loved the all the Fantasia references, especially the apprentice being turned into a mouse, and the walking broom.

The Hook storyline was rather silly. I thought Hook had outgrown the whole being someone's minion thing, and the writers would take his character in a new direction. I'm glad the actor has finally changed into some new clothes though, he has said the pirate coat weights 50 pounds! The evil hand thing reminded me of a similar episode from Angel.

I skipped the preview for this episode last week, and avoided the episode listing summary, and I'm SO glad I did. It made the episode much more enjoyable going in blind. I plan to do that for the rest of the season!

Here's my next question: The whole episode Emma keeps joking that she has to get her own place.

What's stopping her?

It's not like she's legally obliged to live with the Charmings - she's nicely past the age of 17 - and she has a steady job - and can always go back to her last steady job - so it's not a money thing, and if entire mansions can appear out of nowhere in Storybrooke i can't believe there's a shortage of available homes.

So other than it's cute to have her living with parents who are also her contemporaries in age, what sane reason could she have for not bailing out of the nest ages ago? Hell, why not just move in with Regina? There's plenty of room, it will make the Queen/Swan shippers happy and the mysterious Author can get to work on the "Henry has Two Mommies" children's book.

Meanwhile, does anybody really care what Will Scarlet is doing? I don't.

So, who thinks that the reference to "Operation Mongoose" puts "the Author" squarely at the doorstep of Rudyard Kipling? Especially since Disney already has "The Jungle Book" in its vault? At first I thought it was the Pinocchio dude on the motorcycle in season 1 with the magical typewriter, but now that's clearly not the case.

^ It really hasn't been all that long since Henry was looking for houses (probably a week/week-and-a-half at most), and she's been dealing with one crises after another since then.

Okay, but a running joke falls flat if it's based on a situation that doesn't require a Mensa member to handle...

The season so far has only covered about 3 days in universe. Give the girl a break. Besides, you don't just sign a lease after finding a classified ad that appeals to you. You still have to find time to actually view the property.

I am wondering whether it's going to be someone from our world or a fictional character.

I don't really care what he's doing, no. I only watched a few episodes of Wonderland before I got bored.

As for why Emma hasn't moved out yet, the only reason I could believe is that she doesn't want to stop living with her parents because they obviously want to spend a lot of time with her after missing out on most of her life. It's a stretch and it's not something that's been stated in the show. The other reason could be because getting a place in Storybrooke would be a commitment to staying there long-term, and Emma's always struggled with committing fully to this way of life.

So, who thinks that the reference to "Operation Mongoose" puts "the Author" squarely at the doorstep of Rudyard Kipling?

Nah, that was just a dig at Emma, cause her secret op with Henry is called "Operation: Cobra."

Kipling related, sure, but not necessarily a smoking gun...
