Did anyone watch Talking Dead? Was Gimple saying that the guy they freed from the cargo container (that got eaten immediately) was the same guy who put back Mary and grabbed another woman out of the container in the flashback at the end?
Yes.

Yes.
It wasn't very obvious, no. When he came out looking all grizzled, I was like, "Who is this guy? Surely he must be someone we know." But it wasn't all that clear. Especially since the other scenes of him, he's shown in the darkness.
It's kind of like the thing with the hippie Sam. That may not have been apparent to many viewers what the connection there was.
Probably. That's a good guess. He seems to try to walk the walk, but he's probably just full of bluster. He wants to survive... so of course he'll try to act like someone who knows something. That gives him a chance to not be killed.Good point about Mullet Man. The jury's still out on him imo. If it is the truth, we'll find out soon enough though.
My sense is knows absolutely nothing. All the scientific babble about bio warfare strikes me as he's a want to be scientist - knows some buzz words - but really has no idea about a cure. I mean seriously, the cure is classified for for what good reason?
Regarding this episode - outstanding start of the season. One thing I don't get is why Tyreese is all of a sudden squeamish about even killing walkers? His gentle giant routine seems a bit off considering what they've been through.
Also, how did Mary escape from the walkers or did I miss something?
I think the producers of the show know that some fans like subtle clues rather than big ones - and some people will go through the episodes almost frame-by-frame to find them and share their findings in forums like this which in-turn generates more views of the episodes and hence ratings.
Me too. Come on folks! Challenge this guy. Take him on so we can find out what the heck is going on!I keep waiting for someone to throw that "classified" bit back in his face.
"classified!?! Classified from who? Are you worried the walkers will find out what you're planning? Think the russians or Chinese might be lurking around to beat us to a cure? Well fucking let them! At least someone will survive this shit!"

A more believable answer would be that he wants to get rich to cure the zombie virus - kind of like when Zephrn Cochran explains to Riker why he created warp drive in a post apocalyptic world - it's all about personal fulfillment not altruism.
How do you "get rich" when you're living in a situation where you can just take what you want anyways?
Haven't seen that episode since it first aired so I can hardly remember what he looked like, therefore didn't make the connection at all when I watched the ep today. Only just found that out now, ha so thanks for thatIt's kind of like the thing with the hippie Sam. That may not have been apparent to many viewers what the connection there was.

I don't find it to be a completely implausible elephant to be in the room. The group is holding on by a thread, & so long as they can work together amicably, & keep on keeping on, then there's actually a logical reason to back down from being overly challenging on people's little idiosyncrasies.Me too. This goes back to the season 4 debut, where he told Karen that he does not like fence duty. Its only when pushed (ex. the car surrounded by walkers, attack by the Governor, etc.) that he uses lethal force. He likely has some sort of rage issue he's trying to suppress, for fear that it could get out of control.
