The Walking Dead Season 5

Wow, they resolved the entire Terminus storyline in one action packed episode! I expected them to drag it out forever. Quite entertaining!

Carol proves--once again--that she's a true hero in the world of walkers. One Woman Army and no nonsense.

So how long until someone asks where Mika and Lizzie are?

Could be the next episode; Rick is supposed to talk to her about his poor decision to banish her.

...and then, there the old er--friend...

Not this shit again. Carol wasn't too far off from the people at Terminus. Indiscriminate killing for what she thought was the greater good, but of course she was in absolute error, just like the people at Terminus. And she knows it..

Carol was not considering or acting on something as reprehensible as cannibalistic desires. She acted to stop disease (read: keep everyone alive), but was not killing just about everyone in sight in some warped revenge motive. She's human, while the Terminus killers are not, and continued to turn newcomers into food.

There's no comparison.

I actually think we're probably done with Denise Crosby. Maybe something equivalent to her rather brief appearance on Dexter.

Crosby might be finished, but her death seems like a set up for revenge from Gareth sometime in this season. Probably something sadistic to the most innocent of Rick's group. I would not be surprised if he's tied to Beth's kidnappers, and somehow leads Rick's group into a gruesome trap.

Cannibalism isn't much more reprehensible than the murdering of the sick. Especially when it didn't work, and given the shifted morals in this world.

So who thinks that Eugene was full of crap? Glad to see Sasha calling him on his "cure", but his answer didn't really say anything definitive, did it?

I know nothing about the comic, but he's definitely full of crap. His answer wasn't even an answer. Anyone who says something is "classified" in the middle of the zombie apocalypse has no idea what's going on. He probably has his own reasons for wanting to go to DC and found people stupid enough to be his caravan.

Good point about Mullet Man. The jury's still out on him imo. If it is the truth, we'll find out soon enough though.

My sense is knows absolutely nothing. All the scientific babble about bio warfare strikes me as he's a want to be scientist - knows some buzz words - but really has no idea about a cure. I mean seriously, the cure is classified for for what good reason?

Regarding this episode - outstanding start of the season. One thing I don't get is why Tyreese is all of a sudden squeamish about even killing walkers? His gentle giant routine seems a bit off considering what they've been through.

Also, how did Mary escape from the walkers or did I miss something?

I was waiting for someone in the group to say something like "hey man, it's the plot of the videogame so-and-so/this is a plot of Steven King's The Stand!".

According to Wikipedia, Gareth is part of the main cast for S5, so it wasn't the last we've seen of him.

Rick was right to want to go back and kill off everyone left alive in Terminus. Now they have a group of God knows how many armed and pissed off insane cannibals hellbent on revenge.

In the previews of the season, he seemed to have made statements that weren't in this episode, and more like he was allied with the group for some reason.

Also, is there a map of where Terminus is compared to where the group has been before?

Although not specifically stated, the way they are moving - towards the coast - it would be consistent with GA geography for them to be roughly near Macon GA - and the size and name of, "Terminus," would be nearly the same as Macons real life train station, "Terminal."

Did anyone watch Talking Dead? Was Gimple saying that the guy they freed from the cargo container (that got eaten immediately) was the same guy who put back Mary and grabbed another woman out of the container in the flashback at the end?

I saw this preview now - indeed he was allied with Rick's group, but the setting didn't look like Terminus. So, either it's misdirection from the showrunner or Gareth and some of his people get out of Terminus, meet with Rick and for some reason Rick decides not to kill them on the spot.

Anybody get a Holocaust feel from this episode, victims stuff gathered up and put in piles, people trapped in train cars, people being ruthlessly killed.

Yeah, the writers seemed to suggest as much on Talking Dead. They hinted that the whole "You're the butcher or you're the cattle" theme is a strong influence over the season

I too am generally of the opinion that they should have swept Terminus & finished the job. Survivors are going to take that shit personal, & you don't need to be running into that out in the wild

There's a good chance that their unwillingness to do so may cost them dearly. The problem is, they had it cushy for a good deal of time, at that prison. It's near a couple years into the fall now, and most anybody out there is either living a nomadic "Take or be taken" lifestyle, like Joe's claimers, or they were holed up somewhere that's probably been Woodburied by now

It seems pretty unlikely that they'll encounter anyone they can have a friendly interaction with, ever again, except maybe Morgan. Think about it. Woodbury, the prison, & Terminus were 3 large sanctuaries in what was once a populated area, and all 3 are destroyed. I doubt there's anymore in Georgia like that. It's tribes from here on in, unless something big alters that course

And when tribes war like this week, you can't afford to let survivors get away & risk endangering your welfare. You at least have to capture them all, & determine if they're worth offering sanctuary

This season seems like the "There's no coming back for humanity" season. Every day from here on in is pretty much a day you hope you don't run into any people, because the days of strangers helping strangers is coming to a close

Before this I believed he knew nothing, but now I believe his claims. His idea for curing the ZA is a reasonable, logical plan and is a good reason to support him. But note that he doesn't actually know what the cause of the ZA is. I think that's going to trip him up, if he survives that long.

Yep, that's what they said. He thought Mary's people were the ones letting him out. He knew what they'd been doing, hence "We're the same!" But there were other people in those cars and the group didn't let them out.

Jesus, that was intense. Carolmmando was awesome. The casual business-like way the Terminus people killed their victims at the trough was chilling as hell, as was the stack of teddy bears and toys.
I didn't see the teddy bears and toys.:eek::eek:

After the brutality of the bulk of the episode, the reunion of Daryl and Carol, Rick and Carl and Judith, and Tyrese and his sister was touching. It's great to have everyone back together so soon and moving on to new things.
I was afraid they were going to pull something and mess up the reunion by having Tyreese/Judith missing.

I'm seconding the wish that Michonne gets the katana back.

What actually happened to Gareth? I lost track of him.

I wondered at first if that guy in the final flashback who said "no, it's not" could be...
Negan. Je just had a similar look and build to him. Probably not though, unless he escaped obviously when his gang's reign of terror ended

Kirkman's EW interview off of the premiere says no.

I'm just glad I caught that scene. I turned off the TV then turned it back on when I decided to watch Talking Dead after all and I caught that post-credit scene by accident.
