Warner Bros. Moves Forward with ‘Acme’ Feature

So basically we will get our first movie about the Acme Corporation and the things it makes:

Warner Bros. is moving forward with Acme (working title), a new Looney Tunes spin-off centered around the Acme Corporation, the fictional weapons supplier whose name was often seen in the original shorts. The film, which has been in development since 2010, will not star any of the recognized Looney Tunes characters.

Initially planned as a live-action film, Hollywood Reporter now says that Acme will be a live-action/animation hybrid, in the style of earlier films like Space Jam and Looney Tunes: Back in Action, though the animation would obviously be CGI.

I don't know about this. IMHO, Acme almost works better as a background joke, rather than having it explained in detail. I am intrigued as to what they could possibly do with this, though.

When I was a kid and I saw all this Acme stuff, I thought it was an adjective, rather than an actual company name!

It would be one REALLY long list, given all of the products that have failed over the years when he tried to use them.

I don't know about this. IMHO, Acme almost works better as a background joke, rather than having it explained in detail. I am intrigued as to what they could possibly do with this, though.

Green Shirt's reaction is fairly typical, and I guess I can't fault people too much because of the face of it it is rather silly to sue over hot coffee, but when you look into it McDonald's was in the wrong.


As to the topic at hand, I think this movie could be good; the concept of Acme Corporation is a potential gold mine. We'll just have to wait and see.

They kinda have a clean slate to work with though, since we really don't know anything about ACME, just that their quality is....questionable.

Yeah... it may sound silly reduced to a sound bite, but the fact is that the poor woman suffered third-degree burns, a serious and incredibly agonizing injury, and was partially disabled for two years and permanently disfigured. Whether it was the fault of her own carelessness or McDonald's (and the jury found it was 80% the restaurant's fault), she suffered horrendously, and that's nothing to joke about or trivialize.

McD's was not at fault just because the coffee was hot; it was because the coffee was WAY TOO FUCKING HOT. It was much, much hotter than necessary for peaceful drinking purposes. Just *drinking* the coffee (let alone spilling it) could permanently burn or kill you. That's what the whole brouhaha was about.
